She tossed his duty-bound proposal in his face. After all, she had her pride. An automobile accident took the lives of her parents and caused her many months of physical therapy and grief counseling. Although she was in a wheelchair, her torn body was healing. After several long years, Blake was ending his self-imposed exile. He realized that time away did not diminish his intense desire for Jessica. It did, however, ease the pain of her rejection. Being away from his family had cost him more than he cared to admit and he longed for their close contact. Little did Blake and Jessica know that an unexpected encounter would change the course of their lives.

    A Great First Novel

I enjoyed the love story between Blake and Jessica very much. I have to admit I was worried towards the end when Dan came back. Judy and Cindy did an excellent job and I can't wait for them to write another exciting novel.

A Charming Romance in the Classical Tradition

This classical romance is full of vivid and charming characters you would like to have as your own friends. The story comes alive on the streets of an historic neighborhood in Baltimore. I was enchanted from beginning to end. I look forward to their next novel.

    Incredible story

I generally do not read Romance Novels but was totally caught up in this story, to the point I could not put in down, until I read the last line. I was truly feeling the agonizing pain of two people who let pride get in the way of feelings. Pity this happens to so many of us mortals. I have to admit I cried in several places and even chewed on my bottom lip several times in anticipation as to what the outcome of several scenes was going to be. Keep up the good work as you both have a gift. You go girls.

    An excellent light-hearted love story!

The characters were well developed. I also liked how the same situation was presented from two different view points in a couple of instances. The romance scenes were so hot, I wanted a cigarette when I finished reading them, and I don't even smoke! A believable story line; I laughed and cried. Thanks for a great read!

Grabbed my attention on the first page!

It was a quick read and the kind of book I like to take on vacation. The story line keeps flowing and I wanted to know more about these people! This book grabbed my attention on the first page.

    Relax and Enjoy

I am a Harlequin Club member and enjoy easy flow and 'getaway' atmosphere of romance and mystery. 'Odds Against Tomorrow' fits this to a tee! Judy and Cindy captured my attention from the first page. I could not put down this book, I had to find out what happens next. Can't wait for their next project!

    Federal Hill Setting

This book is set in my home town of Baltimore and has many scenes in Federal Hill were I live. As I read the book I realize that some of the characters are based on real people that I actually know! It's cool to walk down the street thinking at any time I could run into one of the book's characters having lunch at one of our many restaurants or shopping in a boutique or the Cross Street Market. I wonder what Blake & Jessica are doing right now?

    A truly heatwarming story!

As someone who normally does not read romance novels, I must say that this book impressed me immensely. From page one the plot was gripping and the characters were colorful and well-developed. This was one of the best books I read in 2003.
