Overview

Just under the surface of normal, everyday life lurks a secret conflict that has been waged since the dawn of mankind, and the worst series of murders in the history of Los Angeles threatens to bring this ancient conflict to a head.

From the U.S. to Hong Kong, from Berlin to Hell and back again, the world unknowingly teeters on the edge, and the last thing standing in the way of the destruction of mankind is someone who is neither good nor evil but a little bit of both, a man who reluctantly possesses the ability to save the world or let it crumble and collapse into chaos.

As he wrestles with his place and purpose, even his very own existence, having long struggled to endure a life spent as the focus of constant fear and resentment from those both good and evil, he will confront the nightmares no one else dares to face and finally be forced to decide his fate once and for all and ultimately take the entire world with him.

Rolled the dice on this one…and it was definitely worth it. I would say
it’s a horror novel, but it’s not just. It’s also not just a thriller
or a mystery or an action novel or a supernatural story. It’s a little
of everything all rolled into one, which is what makes it so good. Kind
of surprising no one’s ever heard of it. It’s partly about the coming
of the end of the world and one guy who’s trying to stop it, but that
would be simplifying things too much. I can’t really sum up everything
in a neat little paragraph. There’s just too much going on. It’s got
vampires, not sissy, sparkling vampires either. They’re smart, sexy,
brutal and ruthless. But it’s not a vampire novel. It’s also got
ghosts, demons, a witch with a bad temper, a telepathic, drug addicted
nun, a naughty professor and even the Devil himself. There’s also some
new creatures – something called a Sentinel (no spoilers here, so I
won’t tell you what that is) and The Vile: twisted, animalistic
vampires. I wish I could see these in a movie! It sort of sets up a
sequel too, and I hope there is one….I really recommend this book! Read it!
