    Good stuff, but...

I really like this author's short stories - he has a great way with dialog, the characters are compelling, and - in the short format at least - the story development is good.

That largely holds true in Off the Record - I liked the characters, I liked the setting, I liked the story line. Unfortunately... It reads as a short story padded out with a lot of really repetitive inner monologues. Rigorous editing would improve this dramatically.

Also, the formatting for e-book is distracting. The author uses frequent scene and POV shifts which is not a problem, EXCEPT that they are NOT indicated at all by any kind of layout/typographical marker.
