Overview

Perfectly geared to babies and toddlers, this specially designed borad book helps little readers get a grip — while featuring everyday objects and activities they'll be happy to recognize.

Good News! Little ones now have a set of sturdy board books built for many enthusiastic viewings — with slightly graduated pages making it easy for small hands to open and turn the pages. In a unique design, the one-word pages are illustrated with simple black-and-white photographs, which are colorized to highlight a special item or plaything. OFF TO BED takes a young child through a familiar ritual, from bath time to book time to settling in with a favorite teddy.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Two photographic board books created by Michel Blake, photos by Trish Gant, play up everyday activities in a toddler's world: Out to Play and Off to Bed. Against a b&w background, only the highlighted object appears in color, and only one per page. A boy plays with a red, yellow and blue "boat" on the left of a spread, and a yellow "truck" on the right. Bed depicts orange "socks" and a blue "shirt" about to come off, and a yellow "duck" and "sponge" in the tub. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
It is that time of day/evening when play is over and it is time to get ready for bed. The young girl featured here gets to play a little longer, then gets undressed for a bath. After brushing her teeth, it is story time. The book ends with her tucked under a blue blanket asleep. The familiar routine will be enjoyed by most kids, and it really does not matter if the reader is a boy or girl. Imaginative parents and caregivers can use this book to emphasize the bedtime rituals and encourage kids to follow this little girl's example. 2005, Candlewick Press, Ages 1 to 3.
