More About This Book

Overview

Magic, Adventure, and Romance
Enliven a Young Woman's Search for the Immortal Nectar

Award winning Offer Me a Flower: A Spiritual Quest is a contemporary tale for young adults that reveals teachings of the spiritual feminine about the nature of love, suffering, conflict, choice, and the soul. Excitement reigns high as Luce, the protagonist, goes through personal tests in the tradition of "quest" literature.
This entertaining and insightful work fills nine chapters, each exquisitely illustrated, depicting animals that play a role in the story. Luce approaches life with a sense of wonder at the miracle of being human. Her honest, penetrating voice reveals intimate relationships with other living creatures. Offer Me a Flower goes beyond the classic quest presented in Dan Millman's Way of the Peaceful Warrior¾it addresses the mind's shadowy dilemmas as well as offering a mythology for young people in the 21st century.
The story begins as Luce, age five, encounters first a wolf, then "the Mother," while walking down a snowy trail near her mountain cabin in Pine Hills, California. At age 27, after a wild search through the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona, Luce meets the Mother again and embarks on a quest for the elusive "immortal nectar."
Now with the Mother as her spiritual guide, Luce is drawn into darkness ¾a world of magic, sorcery, and fear¾then into events of mythic proportion with her boyfriend, Sam. The couple must come to terms with each other, which they do as they fight for their own survival, both literal and symbolic.

"A magical, mystical thriller that initiates the reader into the beauty of the dark and the light. Grounded in real-life drama, each page carries wisdom and guidance for the seeker. I couldn't put it down."
Winter Robinson, author of Intuitions: Seeing with the Heart.

"A heartfelt, magical story you can get lost in and never want to come out! I offer Savitri Bess a flower for weaving a tale that not only takes us on quite a journey but also has such profound truths."
Patrice Karst, author of God Made Easy.

Savitri L. Bess, MFA, MEd, is a transpersonal therapist and workshop facilitator and a highly regarded artist who has been a recipient of both Fulbright and NEA grants. A student of Hindu philosophy and religion, she has been following the path of the Mother for more than twenty-seven years. She currently lives at the Amma Center of New Mexico ashram in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is also the author of The Path of the Mother: With the Divine Guidance of the Holy Mother, Ammachi,
