Meet the Author

Derek Ciccone is an avid fiction writer. Painless is the first one to be published, followed by The Trials of Max Q and The Truant Officer in 2011. Derek grew up in Connecticut and attended Arizona State University, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. He now resides back in Connecticut and works as a Marketing Analyst for an advertising agency. Derek’s stories are fast paced mystery/thrillers filled with suspense, humor and romance. But at their core are memorable, layered characters who take you into their world and make you not want to leave. The consistent trait of these characters is they are seemingly regular people who are placed into unthinkable situations. When Derek’s not working or writing, he enjoys movies, playing basketball, and spending time with my family & friends. He also likes to read the writing of others, in which he really admires the character development of Nelson DeMille, the fast pacing of James Patterson, and the inventive plot twists of Harlan Coben. For more information on Derek and his writing you can go to his website www.derekciccone.com or follow the progress of Painless or his other work by joining his interactive book club on Facebook.

    Anonymous --- Excellent Book

I really enjoyed this book. It was a little hard to follow a few times, but made sense as I went along. The almost 800 pages made me think about not starting the book, but it caught your attention right away, and kept it. I read it in kess than a week while on the treadmill. Highly recommended. Would read other books from this author.

Great for a long rainy weekend.

This was my first book by this author, I was impressed. Action, family loyality, some romance & justice all rolled into a great read. While I was reading I lost track of time.

    362 pages

When I was scanning through the reviews, I saw various numbers for the amount of pages this bookhas. 800, wow, that would be fantastic, then I saw 700, okay, that would gteat also. Si, I down loafedthe book, eagerly opened it and the length was only 362 pages. I finishec it in 6 hours and feel a little disappointed. This novel is very good. I have several complaints about it which is why I did not give it five stars. None of them are major. The first is the bouncing back and forth in time, the second is the switching back and forth from first person to third, depending on the character and the third is the typical bad, cowardly, idiot jealous cop. I do not know why all authors writing about small town police officers feel they have to have to put an officer like this on the force. There is violence, murder, sex, some frank details but nothing over the top. No cursing or religion. For readers ages 18 and up. I enjoyed this book. It is not chick lit. This book kept me guessing about some of the main people and events. Usually, I figure the mystery and other factors out pretty fast. I did not with this book. It was a real puzzler. Many thanks to the author. I will be reading more of his books and archiving this one. Throughly enjoyable and higly recommended for mystery, suspense lovers.
