Overview

What's a girl to do when her step brother's a puckish Lothario who can't keep his hands off her? Mary Quinn isn't sure, but she's certainly having fun figuring it out.

It's the morning after she discovers Shamus moonlighting at a sex club. Following a tempestuous, all-night sex romp, Mary tries to get some answers out of him. True to his nature, her scorching hot step brother uses sex to distract her. This time, things get slippery and steamy in the shower. Edible soap included.

Later, Shamus surprises Mary with an erotic birthday gift.

Excerpt:

As Shamus handed me a towel, I thought I heard a shrill chirp. "What was that?"

He stepped from the shower and turned to me, wiping off his glistening butt and legs. He listened. "I think it's your cell phone. Sounds like your tone."

I hopped onto the bathmat, wiped my feet, and scampered by him. Sure enough, my cell phone gave another trill.

"Crap," I said, dropping the towel as I dived across the bed, reaching for my phone on the nightstand. "It's my mom."

"Ah, Rachel." Shamus wore an affectionate smile as he sat on the side of the mattress. "My second favorite woman in the world. Say hi for me."

Judging by his frown, I gave him the look of utter horror I was going for. "She can't know I'm here."

He scoffed and waved a dismissive hand at me. "What's the big deal? It wouldn't be the first time you came over here. She won't think anything."

I pasted a finger over his luscious lips. "Do not speak. Understand?"

He shook his head and walked to the entertainment unit he kept in the spacious bedroom.

I jammed the TALK button. "Mom! Hey. How's it going?"

"Dear?" Mom's singsong voice instantly calmed me. "You sound …rushed? Did I catch you at a bad time?"

If she only knew, I thought. But I said, "Oh, no! Not at all. I was just going to come over for our birthday lunch."

Then my calm shattered, as an Iscariot's Glory track blared. I stuck my finger in my free ear, glared at my grinning step brother, and mouthed "Turn that down!"

He stuck his nose in the air, crossed his arms over his chest, and shook his head.

"Oh my," Mom said, but I had to strain to hear her words. "Where are you?"

I gave Shamus the finger, then held the phone a good distance from my mouth. "TURN. THAT. DOWN!"

His eyes widened at my shriek, and he held his hands up. Then he dropped the volume on the heavy metal tunes screaming through the speakers.

"Thank you."

He feigned a look of innocence.

"Who's with you, dear?" Mom asked, and there was no hiding my location from her now.

I sighed. "I'm at Shamus' place, but I was just leaving."

"Oh, Shamus." Mom's voice brightened. "Tell him I said hello."

While she loved me, and I never doubted that, she had a soft spot for my step brother. They shared a devil-may-care attitude and a penchant for pranks. Patrick, Shamus' father, was more the practical type, and he and I were considered the reserved ones in the family.

"Why don't you just talk to him?" I regretted my sudden snarky tone. It could raise suspicion in mom.

And, of course, with a wide smile, Shamus held his hand out to take the call. He mouthed, "Should I tell her what we've been up to?"

I clutched the phone tighter to my ear, and my mother's reply to my sarcasm went unheard. "On second thought, I'm hanging up now. See you in ten, mom. Love you."
