Overview

Cherry Elton was beside herself! Her own mother had arranged a marriage for her to a man she had never even met. She had no choice but to run away.

Sky Westbrooke had no wish to marry, but his mischievous siblings sorely needed a firm maternal hand. Yet, how could he court his unseen bride, when into his employ had come the most remarkable, enchanting governess?

and an excerpt:

“Well, you haven’t found one—an angel, that is,
for no one has ever called me that!”

He looked hard at her face, and she watched the flitting expressions cross his countenance, noting that he was, even in the dim light, quite handsome. However, he raised an eyebrow and said, “What the devil is a beauty like you doing out here alone at night?”
“My horse!” is what she answered as she tried reaching for Bess’s reins.
“Stay here!” the stranger said as he turned and moved gently towards the mare and managed to gather her reins. Bess snorted but made no attempt to run from him as he spoke soothingly to her and led her towards Cherry.
“Your horse,” he said softly.
“Thank you, but you didn’t have to … if you had just let me go, I could have gotten her and been on my way,” Cheryl returned, feeling suddenly shy. Here was this fashionable, handsome rogue, and she felt she must look a fool.
“Ungrateful girl, and after you nearly knocked me down,” he teased. His speech was only slightly slurred but enough for Cherry to raise her brow and regard him with some amusement.
“But I did not knock you down, and you, sir, were the cause for all of it,” she answered, a smile curving her lips. “Whatever were you doing walking about in the middle of the road?” It was a counterattack to save face.
“I? Well, I was looking for an angel, and I found one …” So saying, he had her well into his embrace, heedless of the fact that the driver of his coach watched with some keen interest at his back.
She did not know why, but she was not frightened in the least, although as his tongue probed and found hers with an expertise that made her feel warm and willing, she was surprised at herself. She pulled away hard, although she didn’t have to and lost her balance as he released her immediately. He reached out to steady her, and she slapped his hands away, saying, “Well, you haven’t found one—an angel, that is, for no one has ever called me that!”
With one devilish movement he had her back in his arms, and his voice was husky with the intent of his measure. “Are you not?”
She didn’t have the opportunity to reply, for his lips were already on hers, already parting. His tongue found his way easily and teased with gentle expertise. His hand pressed her body against his own, and she felt a frightening surge of desire.
Cherry was astonished, as much at herself and her reaction as she was at his sudden move. She had certainly been kissed before, often in fact, but this was the first time she had been so totally aroused. He was a stranger—ah, perhaps the excitement of the adventure was at work here, she told herself.
She slapped at his shoulder, and when he released her she felt his eyes look into her hers. She made a face at him and announced in a whisper, “You, sir, are taking a liberty. I am at a loss, for you are taller, stronger, and perhaps wicked enough to pursue this further. If that is what you intend … proceed, for I have always wondered what it would be like to be ravished on a London street.”

And Cherry, playing at being a governess was smitten by the handsome, cavalier Lord Westbrooke. His stolen kisses left her breathless—yet, he was betrothed to another. Whatever was a love struck governess to do?

    Hello

Her women subjects seem to runaway (one horse was Bess, another Silkie); seem to be age 21 but with the emotional characteristics of a 12 year old. And they seem to lose their morals and common sense within 1 hour of meeting the 'gentleman' who promtly seduces the virgin, who is amazed at his "dick". And the 'not attracted, am attracted' thing goes on and on for pages and pages and pages. Basic storyline is good but the consistent immaturity of the delivery is annoying.

Oh Cherry Ripe by Claudy Conn
Cheryl "Cherry" Elton is twenty-one and fancy free. She enjoys doing what men do only she lives in a world where her station frowns on such things as riding astride or racing a man through Hyde Park. Her step-mom jumped on the opportunity of excepting a marriage proposal for Cherry. Cherry was not excited and chose to run away. She ends up as the governess for a set of twins that she quickly falls in love with and vice versa. What she don’t know is that the very handsome older brother is the very man she is suppose to be engaged to.

Lord Skylar Westbrooke knew at twenty-eight years of age he needed to marry so the twins, Felix and Francine, had a woman in their life. He agreed to marry a young lady he had never med but heard she was beautiful. That was before he met Sarah Parker. The young woman took up residence in his mind the minute he met her in London and now she was at his country home as his younger step-siblings governess. He had yet to meet his fiance, as she has been ill, but more and more he wished that he had never made that arrangement.

I really enjoyed this regency and the fun and unique characteristics of everyone.. Cherry is such a joyous character and she is has been as naughty as the twins and seventeen year old Freddy so she truly understands them. And unlike their past governess’s, putting a frog in Cherry’s face is not going to send her running.

    Arianna Silverwolf

Book is 604 pages in length.
Grammar and spelling are pretty decently done with the ocsssional typo or grammatic error.
Summary: A young lady of some rank is told by her beloved stepmother that a match has been made and she is to be wed to a nobleman who she has never laid eyes on. In a fit the girl runs away to spend time at the house of her old nurse. Along the way she unknowingly runs into the very man she is to marry. He offers to escort her to her nurses house she accepts and they spend the next two hours together. Later a man comes to hire the old nurse and takes the girl in the nurses place to be a governess. Upon arriving at the manor she spends several months working for the very man who had escorted her that night. Once the begin falling in love it is revealed to her from a childhood friend who the man really is. Will she follow her heart or reject the man she loves.
This was a wonderful story and i would highly recommend it. The character buildingand relations were well done though the ending seemed slightly rushed and could be a little confusing at times. Almost as if the writer was eager to end the book

Anyone who loves fairytales will adore Claudy Conn's unforgetable "Oh Cherry Ripe"! The characters are warm and work beautifully together, in a story that compels you to read on and discover an ending that can only happen in a Fairytale, albeit a very ADULT one. Your heart will be delighted by the idea that both Cherry and Skye are looking for true love, each not wanting to face the realities of their situations. Cherry, running from an arranged maarriage with a man she doesn't know, wants love on her own terms and with whom she chooses. Skye, not really wanting to marry, accepts an offer of marriage to a woman he does not know for the sake of his siblings. Then into his life comes Cherry, the sparks fly between them, weaving them inextricably together. Don't want to give it all away, so you will just have to get this wonderful book and read it yourself. I loved it, and so will you!

    Love this pleasurable tale!

Claudy Conn’s books continue to amaze me. I am wow’d with every book I read of hers.
I was taken back in time with this book. Claudy writes details that bring you to that time and place.
I found this book to be well written. I couldn’t put this book down. I cant believe it was for free.
The passion the main characters shared was very sensual. The secondary characters were very lovable and unforgettable.

Cherry, is a high spirited, witty and beautiful woman of this time. Not wanting to be married to someone she doesn’t know, someone she doesn’t love even though her step mother arranged her to be married. She decides to run away to prevent the marriage, she didn’t realize her life would be changing that very same night..

Sky, a handsome, honorable man decides to set up and agree to marry a woman he has never met. He wants a wife to help take care of his family. He has already given up on finding love let alone having a marriage full of love. He decides to go out with his friends to celebrate his last day as a free man. He doesn’t know he will meet his destiny that same night.

From that moment on this book was filled with laughs, smiles and a lot of sighing in contentment.
I enjoyed this book. It was a breath of fresh air for me.

Story line: sweet and very romantic <3
Main Characters? Loved everything about them
Did I love this book? I sure did.
Will I read another book from this author? Without a doubt! And I plan to very soon.
    Sexual Heat rating: 5 Kisses

    Disappointingly childish

I'm surprised there were so many favorable reviews. I found much of this book to be rather childish. So much of the action and dialogue was simply illogical and not remotely plausible, and the characters felt very under-developed. Also, everything felt ridiculously rushed. Not to give too many spoilers, but at one point the heroine hops in a carriage with a drunken stranger and does little-to-nothing to stop him making out with her. No plausibility whatsoever. It's really a bummer because the plot had potential. I think the author had a good idea, but the writing was, simply, immature.
