All Music Guide - Matt Collar
Moving on somewhat from the epic and sincere post-grunge of their last two hit albums, 2003's Beautiful Letdown and 2005's Nothing Is Sound, California Christian-emo rockers Switchfoot deliver a lively and laid-back effort with 2006's Oh! Gravity. Perhaps influenced by the post-punk of such contemporaries as Franz Ferdinand and Futureheads, Switchfoot smartly keep things stripped down and to the point this time. To these ends, the title track and leadoff single "Oh! Gravity" is a poppy blast of '80s new wave. Similarly engaging, the punchy and playful Mott the Hoople-esque anthem "Amateur Lovers" is a truly inspired creative turn for lead singer/guitarist Jonathan Foreman ...

Similarly engaging, the punchy and playful Mott the Hoople-esque anthem "Amateur Lovers" is a truly inspired creative turn for lead singer/guitarist Jonathan Foreman and his cohorts. But lest longtime fans fear the band have completely changed their sound, don't worry, as tracks such as the blissful mid-tempo ballad "Awakening" and the driving rocker "Head over Heels (In This Life)" retain the band's knack for mixing heartfelt lyrics with catchy melodies that tug at your soul.

    Switchfoot rocks!

This is one of my better CD's. Jon's vocals are amazing! I think Awakening is one of my favorite Swithfoot songs. Burn Out Bright isn't that great, but every other song is. Circles is also one of my favorites. The whole CD is upbeat except for only a few songs, which makes Oh! Gravity different then other Switchfoot CD's. I can't wait to see what Switchfoot does next.

Everytime Switchfoot releases a new record I always love it, and Oh! Gravity is no exception! Every one of their albums is different so if you are hoping that Gravity will be like one of their previous albums you might be let down. This is no repeat of old albums. My favorite song is the last track, "Let Your Love Be Strong", with "Awakening" coming is second. Some other stand-out tracks include: "Dirty Second Hands" "Faust, Midas and Myself" "Yesterdays" and "4:12". Oh! Gravity is a solid album without a weak song on it. It is a much more light-hearted record than Nothing is Sound and I would definitely recommend it!

    Oh Gravity.

Oh! Gravity continues in their sound's evolution that was started by Nothing is Sound. It includes deep lyrics and very catchy riffs. I would recommend buying it.

Oh! Gravity- new Switchfoot album does not disappoint.

For those of us who have been long time Switchfoot fans, there may have been some apprehension as to whether or not this, or any, album could measure up to the high standards set by their previous albums. However, after listening to the variety of incredible music on their newwest cd, I unqualifiedly announce those fears to be unfounded. The title track, of course, is wonderful, but this album also contains such songs as Head Over Heels, Let Your Love Be Strong, and others- making it a definite success. If you haven't yet heard this latest and gretest Swwitchfoot album, stop wasting time- go and buy it now!

    splendiferous!

I must say that this release is really good! Switchfoot is a veteran band, but does not sound like it! They sound just as fresh and new as the younger bands today.

    BEST SWITCHFOOT YET

this cd show's switchfoot's amazing development from a medicore band in the legend of chin (with all due respect) all the way to a beautiful letdown...and through to this. great full mature sound while keeping a fun light-hearted attitude. its a must buy.

    Oh! Gravity.

Amazing! being a long-time listener and die hard fan, it seems like the band has just improved so much since The Legend of Chin it's unbelievable! and oh! gravity is no different. they're getting the message out there in a way not too many bands can do. definately the best record to come from them yet.
