I truly was not ok with his personal hunt in africa Really you are going there to help kill off species Shame on you
Great outdoor humor and adventure.Makes you feel your in the bush with Bob and waiting for something to happen, good or bad.
I loved this book of short stories of his adventures in the wilds of Alaska. His writing is humorous and many parts were laugh out loud funny. I shared this book with my Dad and my brother and they both loved it as well. The last reviewer described it as gruesome, but that is an exageration. The stories of hunting show the author's love of nature and his ethical use of its resources. I don't hunt, fish, or kill my own food, but nothing offended me. This is a funny read that you will pass along to your family members.
I only read the first 3 chapters, because I couldn't get past all the killing of moose and gutting them. Hunting and killing animals was the theme of these chapters, not humor. I was hoping to read some good descriptions of Alaska's beauty, since I used to live there, but that didn't happen either! The title should be changed to something more appropriate, like "My Adventures--Hunting in Alaska."
My husband and I went to Alaska over the summer and found this book in a little shop in Talkeetna. It's filled with short stories about the Author's adventures in Alaska. Every story kept us on the edge of our seats, and his writing style is unbelievably comical. If you want to read some funny yet scary stories about what happens in the Alaska Bush this is for you!
My husband HATES to read, but COULD NOT put this book down. It's a perfect gift for the outdoorsman. Although I must say it was a little nerve racking reading the stories of him running into several grizzly bears at once while we were camping on the river. :)
