Editorial Reviews

Jared Rhoades
I like mysteries and this was a good one, not too scary but fun scary also it was fun to read my name since the boy had the same name as I do.

If you're read and enjoyed the old Huck Finn stories, this one will remind you of those.

Hailey and Jared are typical small town boys, looking for enough trouble to be interesting, but not so much that they get into any real danger.

In my opinion, this tale should have been Genre'd as Young Adult.

So nice to read something that was well written, interesting, had a good story line and was entertaining... without being gory or gothic or gruesome (lots of G's there...). Or profane. Thank you Bon Rose! Held my interest - wasn't predictable - and I found myself thinking of the stories that I grew up reading and loving, and reading again. This is what kids should be reading when we can get them away from the bad stuff. Wholesome but not boring or sugary - not easy to walk that line. I'll be rea

I read this story to my boys, ten and seven, and they loved it. It is such a great, well written story, and perfect for the young ones (and young at heart). I highly recommend this book, and it's best served on a cool night with your favorite young one, wrapped in a warm blanket together. Well done!

Meet the Author

My first story that I've written but have had this short story in mind since I was in Junior High. Fun to finally get it written for my grandchildren and excited to actually have a chance for others to read it too. Hope you enjoy it!

    more from this reviewer

Old Jacob is a fun and feisty read...

This story had me sitting on the edge of my chair, and when it was over I was wanting more! It put me into the mood to pull out some Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books and recapture the excitement of summer mysteries! This book is definitely fun for all ages!

    Exciting Read for Youth

This book is a perfect adventure for youth level readers. I even found myself feeling youthful again as I followed the character's through their last day of summer. Easy to identify with the dreams and savored moments portrayed in this story. CRM64

    Highly recommend!

My 10 year old son loved it and after reading it myself I also (even though I'm in my 40s!) was intrigued with it. Fun, exciting with a twist, very cute story!!
