Overview

In the fictional town of Pichón in northeastern New Mexico, Old Miguel has been Time Walking since the age of nine. Born in 1830, he is searching for the silver sports car he saw on his first Time Walk from 1839 into the future. Through Time Walking, he learns all of Pichón's secrets, and there are many-from the past and future as well as the present.
In 1974, two of Pichón's teachers, also Time Walkers, hypnotize and walk their eleven students to 1861 to experience history. All goes well until early July when one of the students, Serena Cryder, disappears into the past and refuses to return. Her alcoholic father, Pete, accuses the teachers of kidnapping, rape, and murder. A month after Serena's disappearance, when a mutilated, female body is found in the mountains, Pete's accusations have credence. Is the corpse Serena or her sister who disappeared earlier? Will Old Miguel help the teachers? Who is guilty of the murder? And just how many residents of Pichón have the ability to Time Walk?
