Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Guessing which animal lives the longest of them all will be a fun task for each reader. Libraries and parents alike will be drawn to this text as delightfully educational. Many extra resources are included at the end of the book for the adult ready to guide the young reader. Websites are provided for enrichment and fun as the story of each of these animals becomes intriguing to the readers. Teachers may find this book useful as a resource to extend a social studies or science lesson. It is also helpful as a literacy tool to encourage the young reader to guess the ages, to predict, and to use a number line at the bottom of each page. Animal habitats can be discussed and used to enrich the lesson/story. Children will delight in the large, colorful illustrations of the animals. The repetitive question of "Can any animal live longer?" will be fun for children to join in the "reading" and the activity. An excellent, teachable read. This book is part of the "Animal Extremes" series. 2006, Picture Window Books, Ages 3 to 7.
