The man down the road who buys eggs from Pearl’s mother gives Pearl and her duck Olive a bonus: a lottery ticket. The prize is a million dollars. Pearl and Olive and all the farm animals talk about what they would do if they won. When Olive really does win, she finds that thinking about all that money changes her. She doesn’t really like being rich.

After further complications, Olive learns a valuable lesson about money and friends and selfishness.

This charming addition to the adventures of Olive makes a wonderful story for readers ages 6-9. It’s a great bedtime story for younger kids, too.
