Story Lacking in Content and Message

The is a silly story with charming pictures. The story is outdated and meaningless. My children were neither engaged nor entertained.

    I Also Recommend:

I got it because my toddler likes it

What can I say? The kid likes Syd Hoff. I can't say that I have the same appreciation for him what with his stunted sentences and mind-bending changes in perspective in his illustrations, but the kid loves the guy. It may have something to do with her cousin's name being in the title of one of his books. But she loves the stories and she follows them with interest, even flipping through the books on her own and "reading" a word or two off each page. Something about Syd Hoff's style of storytelling has captured her interest, perhaps it's the honest simplicity of the illustrations, or maybe the easy rhythm of the text, or it could be how both marry pretty well to tell the tale. And who am I to argue with her tastes? She's two, and she likes books.
