Only Olivia knows how to make her simple part in the play even more exciting. In Mrs. Hoggenmuller's class, the students are putting on the play about a fairy queen. Mrs. Hoggenmuller assigns the students the various parts in the performance. To Olivia's disappointment, she is not assigned the leading role. Instead, she is Cow Number Two with the line, "Moo." Read to find out how Olivia makes Cow Number Two a memorable role during the night of the performance. The color illustrations are attractive and appealing. There is an interesting tactile quality to the book. Some parts of the scenes are embossed so the pages in the book are thicker. Along the spine is a column of the letter ?O;' the O's have a red, velvet-like surface along with a silhouette of Olivia in the middle of some of the letters. This story is based on the screenplay (written by Pat Resnick) of the Olivia series on Nickelodeon. Olivia is a character created by Ian Falconer.     My 10 yr old picked this one to give to his 2 yr old sister for Christmas. She loves it. So do we. The book size is perfect for little hands. It's technically a cushioned - hard cover book. We love it!

    olivia steals the show - again

    How can you not love Olivia? This perky, playful little porker is always up to some sort of smile provoking mischief. And often her doings also hold a lesson for young readers.

    It's that time of year again at Olivia's school - time for the annual school play. Never one to under estimate her abilities Olivia is quite certain she will be given the leading role in The Fairy Queen. However, much to Olivia's distress Francine is given the role of the Fairy Queen and, oh, dear, Olivia is to be Cow Number Two. It's quite one thing to be cast as a cow but to make matter worse she has no speaking lines - all the audience will hear from Olivia is one "Moo."

    Olivia is pretty downcast until her father reminds her, "Well, just remember: it's not what you say; it's how you say it."

    Youngsters will enjoy the emphasis, intonations and drama Olivia is able to bring to the one syllable "Moo," and also be happily surprised to learn what Olivia comes up with to almost steal the show.
