Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
Grandma is coming to visit and Olivia is getting her room ready. Mother surprises her by announcing that Grandma will be staying in her room alone. Olivia needs to move her things into Ian’s room. Olivia is not happy. She wants to share her room with Grandma and she does not like how Ian’s room smells. After a good dinner and some energetic dancing, Grandma goes into Olivia’s room to prepare for bed. Olivia goes in and out several times until Grandma invites her to stay in the room with her. But, alas, Olivia cannot sleep. Grandma snores. She creeps into Ian’s room and crawls onto the top bunk bed. The next night Grandma reads a story to Ian and Olivia happily tucked into the bunk beds. The story and colorful illustrations are based on a screenplay, and although they lack some of the charm of Falconer’s original books, they will likely please youngsters who have been introduced to Olivia through the films. Part of the “Olivia” series. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D. AGERANGE: Ages 5 to 8.
