Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Naomi Butler
Chris and Angela are traveling on his motorcycle when a mysterious blizzard blows in from nowhere. The engine quits. "It's never done that before," says Chris. Luckily, they find shelter. Then a stranger appears to help. Or does he? Chris had ignored a series of warnings not to take that dangerous motorcycle ride with Angela, a new friend who may be more than she appears to be. This is another of John Townsend's books for young people based on urban legends. The illustrator has given it appropriate black and white pictures to depict the snowy and stormy night. There's a glossary and Internet sites listing. For the teachers, there are discussion questions and writing Ppompts. Under "More Shade Books" there's another one listed by this author, Hunter's Moon. The interest level of this one will go above the reading levels so it will be good for the high-interest/low vocabulary students who are older.
