Overview

The debut album from metal supergroup Adrenaline Mob, Omertá showcases the talents of lead singer Russell Allen of Symphony X, guitar virtuoso/bassist Mike Orlando, and former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy. Produced by Adrenaline Mob and Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther), the album features a handful of blazingly high-octane, screaming, and hard-as-heck heavy metal cuts, including the leadoff track "Undaunted," the devil horn-worthy "Psychosane," and even a cover of Duran Duran's "Come Undone" featuring additional vocals from Halestorm singer/guitarist Lzzy Hale. Released in 2012, the album debuted at number five on the Billboard Rock Album chart during its first week of release. Omertá features the old-school heavy metal single "Indifferent.,"

Amazing musicianship, sophisticated songwriting, and heavy as hell! A unique sound that is, at times, reminiscent of bands like Pantera, Disturbed, Blaze, Avenged Sevenfold, and Symphony X. Admittedly, compared to Dream Theater and Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob may comes across as somewhat minimalist (most music does when compared to more progressive variants), but this is by no means a bad thing. In NO way is Adrenaline Mob simplistic, watered down, or uninspired like some of the negative reviewers would like you to believe. In contrast, Omerta is a welcomed breath of fresh air. The level of inspiration and energy on this album is unsurpassed. I only wish that some of the more critical fans could put their personal feelings toward Mike Portnoy and the Dream Theater "soap opera" aside, pull the cotton out of their ears, and appreciate this album for what it is. Considered objectively, this is a tremendous record. I would highly recommend this album.
