Gerry returned with this impressive 1992 offering after a 4 year break from North and South(1988), immediately that you hear the ticking intro on Time's Caught Up On You, at once you are aware of being in the presence of a master in full flow. Rafferty's ear for rich melody and poignant lyrics are undiminished and indeed this is his best album since Night Owl (1979). The subject matter focusses on his marriage breakdown and he explores all of the emotions harnessed within. He's come full circle from 'Mattie's Rag' on his 1978 masterpiece, 'City to City' and he still delivers songs as finely crafted on this album. A particular favourite is 'Don't Speak of My Heart', which Rafferty delivers with perfect emotion. This man is a rare talent and we don't see enough of him!
