Overview

More than 200 years ago privateers and spies roamed the Long Island shores As a child, Heather Adams grew up on the East end of the island,
daydreaming about these events. The result is her premier novel, On Angels
Wings. She now resides in Delaware, where she writes full time.
Star crossed lovers, Duke Monroe Enderby who fancies himself an adventurer like his hero Odysseus, and Angela Anderson, an equally adventuresome girl, fi nd themselves on opposite sides of the Atlantic,
separated by scorned servant Polly. Monroe begins his own twenty year
Odyssey before he can be reunited with his beloved.
In 1755 Angela Anderson's father dies and turns her life upside down.
After fi nding that she is a lord's bastard and then being sold to a brothel,
she leaves her home and meets Duke Monroe Enderby. He marries her unbeknownst to all but a blind man of God and after becoming pregnant with Monroe's child, Angela decides to leave Enderby Hall to protect
Monroe's family name. Helped by scheming servant Polly who covets
Monroe for herself, Angela escapes to Gray Corners, a solitary place where all noblemen send their pregnant mistresses.
After spending ten heartbroken years there, she and her son Weylin travel to America where the Revolutionary War is getting ready to break out. Her troubles really begin when the British plot to kidnap her in an attempt to stop her son from helping the Sons of Liberty! Actual history is interwoven to give On Angels Wings and adventuresome spirit as well as the romance that three continents, two wars and twenty years cannot kill.

    Must read!

Not one usually into romantic historical novels. Heather Adams' new book has made me a convert. On Angels Wings, Ms. Adams' writing places you in the center of the journeys of Angela Anderson.A woman of unusual strength who loves with passion, devotion, dedication, longevity, and determination. No matter how many obstacles that lay and wait; from wars to new countries, Angela's love for the man who held her heart and the son whose life she had to keep alive would drive her to keep going to the happiness she deserved and her final trials. This is a must read from page one to the end.

    Great Read

This book brilliantly combines early American history and romance, then intertwines mythology and then wraps it up in the happy ever after of a fairy tale we all know and love. Easily holds one interest as well as actually putting you on the scene with the characters. Bravo! to the author

Love romance novels? You won't want to miss this one.

It's true what others have said, you will not be able to put this book down. I'm going to have to re-read it while I am impatiently waiting for the sequel to come out.

You will meet some characters in this book that you will never forget. You'll also learn about some really interesting history in England and in the colonial U.S. I often found myself saying, "I didn't know that!" as I moved through these historically-based scenes. A tremendous amount of research went into making this story come alive. That research is just the underpinning to a masterfully crafted, fascinating story that will keep you saying "just one more chapter" and before you know it, it's 3:00 a.m.

The author has a real gift for bringing people, and their surroundings, to life. The sights and sounds, the smells and the feel of the environment are made vivid and real in just a few words or phrases. There are just enough developments of the plot that you will be able to guess before they happen to make you feel smart. But there are also plenty of twists that you will never see coming, which makes it a very exciting read.

There are a couple features that set this book apart. One is a unifying metaphor which opens the book and recurs as a touchstone throughout. Another is a thread of references to Homer's Odyssey thats run through the book. These add another dimension of richness to the experience of reading this novel.

So Heather Adams, if you are reading this, let me just say: keep working on that sequel, I want to find out what happens to these people next!

    Romantic Adventure

From the beginning this story grabs hold of the reader and transports you back in time. The character development is well done and rather than reading the story it feels like the reader is actually part of the story. Romance, adventure plots and subplots..excellent read can't wait for the next installment.

    Being carried On Angels Wings

Monroe and Angela are carried 'On Angels Wings' through their adventures and so is the reader carried by the writing of Heather Adams. An intriguing story which kept me captivated throughout. It was difficult to put the book down and I felt relief at the ends of chapters. Excellent visualization!!

I almost always read non-fiction but have really enjoyed a few fiction books, this in one of them. I LOVE the way the author combines history into this romantic adventure. I not only got wrapped up in the story I learned a few things along the way. I really enjoyed this book and when I was at the end I wanted more, so I know it had pulled me in, and that is not an easy thing to do. I really appreciate great writers like Heather in a world where any one can write. Good job! I am sure to follow her career through the years.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED=you must check it out!

This is one of those books you can't put down! It roars with emotions and history that I never knew about. The pirate scenes are ones that reminded me of the old movies...hollywood should check out this book! let's get some REAL story lines going at the box office. Perhaps it won't be on video in 2 weeks. This book will keep you turning those pages. The chapters are small, and you'll say to yourself just one more and before you know it it's daylight. I read this book in 4 days, which was a feat for me, but I couldn't put it down. You won't be able to either. I just loved it....On Angels Wings, wonderful wonderful piece of literature! Hurry Ms. Adams with your sequels!

Hollywood ought to get a look at this one!

Take a journey on Angels Wing with Monroe and Angela, I got this book on a Thursday and was finished by Sunday. My husband was annoyed with me, but I didn't care this book is so good you want to know what happens next. The chapters are small so it does go real fast, but Heather Adams packs a lot in those chapters to make you want to turn the page from the first to the last. I think this book would make a great movie it has all the elements one needs to make a good movie. Spies, pirates wars love are just a few of the ideas that must run thru Ms.Adams head when she is writing this great novel. I already ordered Son Of the Wolf. I can't wait to read that one either. I plan on staying with Ms. Adams all thru her 4 part saga of the Enderby's! It's better than the Thorn Birds!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED>>>HOLLYWOOD SHOULD CHECK IT OUT

After being swept away by Angels Wings, I think Hollywood should stop putting out old movies remade, and start making new ones starting with this one! I can see the sword fights and the love scene now. All done with good taste, just as this book is written...exceptional! They should also make it an e-book for Nooks, I highly believe if this book was marketed the right way it could make it on the best sellers list! Kudos to the writer for putting the Odyssey in its pages...a great presence of characters and emotion flow in the pages. Please pick it up, you'll love it!
