Meet the Author

During World War II Ian Fleming served as Assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence, rising to the rank of Commander. His wartime experiences provided him with knowledge of secret operations. After the war, he built his house, Goldeneye, in Jamaica. There, at the age of 42, he wrote Casino Royale, the first of the James Bond novels. By the time of his death in 1964, Fleming's 14 Bond adventures had sold more than 40 million copies and the cult of James Bond was internationally established.

Please bring back to the nook, I honestly can't believe that I have gone through each of these to do this and would not like this effort to be in vain. -Garrett-

I have read the hardcover version of this book and it is a keeper. Probably Ian Fleming at his best. The story is about Ernst Starvo Blofeld, who has taken the name Count de Bleuville. He owns Piz Gloria, a center for allergy curing. He calls Sir Hilary Bray, from the College of Arms to trace his family's background. James Bond takes Sir Hilary's place. I'm not telling anymore (James gets married). A sad ending but Ian Fleming at his peak.

Once again Bond comes to the rescue, gets thumped but wins the battle and girl. This is the same format found in all Bond thrillers except 'Quantum of Solace". Light reading. Fantastic wordsmithing. Focus is midteen to young adult market.

I loved this book- I'd go so far as to say it's one of my favorite Bond books, and there are 14 of them! The ending will really break your heart. I loved Bond skiing and the way they charecterized Tracy and Blofeld.
