Overview

Former Navy SEAL Lucas Chaffee is settling back into civilian life, refurbishing a farmhouse for an old friend who plans to turn it into a culinary school. Celebrity TV chef Madeline Durand has been publicly humiliated by a philandering husband. So Madeline jumps at the chance to return to Shelter Bay to recover and help her grandmother turn the family farm into a new business.

Little does she know that the man who broke her heart years ago is already on the job-or that he's going to cook up a recipe of passion, patience, and perseverance to win her over.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
This tear-jerking tale of a commitment-shy professional cook learning to love a former Navy SEAL in idyllic rural Oregon, the third in Ross’s Shelter Bay series (after One Summer and The Homecoming), may ring familiar bells for readers of Christina Skye’s A Home by the Sea, but Ross’s concern with social issues like spousal abuse and post-traumatic stress broadens this savory romance into more substantial literary fare. Madeline Durand is a dedicated hands-on devotee of organic food and down-home recipes produced with passion and soul. As a teenager, Maddy had an awful falling-out with delectably hunky Lucas Chaffee, but when the two reconnect as adults, his determination to marry her gradually gets her off the treadmill she’d been on and into a knee-weakening burst of lust. The busybodies of Shelter Bay are more than happy to support the two as they slowly make their way toward happiness. Agent: Writers House. (Jan.)
Library Journal
Fleeing the limelight after her faithless husband's sex video goes viral during one of her cooking demos, celebrity TV chef Madeline Durand heads to sleepy Shelter Bay and becomes involved in helping her grandmother Sofia De Luca turn the family farm into a restaurant. It's a healing situation made to order for Maddy. When Sofia talks Navy SEAL medic Lucas Chaffee into becoming part of the project, the dynamics change, as Lucas and Maddy are forced to deal with their once romantic past in order to get on with their lives. Naturally, everyone in town has plenty of opinions. VERDICT Cooking, romance, and a warm, inviting setting work their delectable magic in this tender charmer that introduces new characters (and some serious issues) and reprises previous series players. Ross (One Summer) lives in the hills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

    Wonderful Read!

I was lucky enough to win this book and couldn't wait to read it. After I started it I wish I held back and waited until I read the first two books in the series. Ross did such a good job of bring me into her world that I felt a little lost without reading from book one. Now saying that guess what I'm going to be getting! Sometimes old love can be a new love again and Ross proved that perfectly in Lavender Lane. I enjoyed how she balanced the past with the present. I also enjoyed both Madeline and Lucas and wanted to know their stories. I also liked how she left you wanting more. This is a must read book. The only negative I had about the book was that it left me feeling...hungry.

    WHY?

Why come up with two incredible characters if your going to talk about design project. Its like someone telling you about an interesting fight scene and also desribing the color of the floor and walls. Really? This story needs to told again.

    Not really sure

I am a big fan of JoAnn Ross, but for some reason I stop reading this book not even halfway through it. I do not know what it is about this book but I can not get into it. I will finish reading it one day because I brought it and I just can not believe that I will not start to like it.

    Too contrived

The plot was great, but all the "green living" refrences were a
little over the top. Almost felt like propoganda piece. I don' t read romance novels to develop social or environmental conciousness. It was like a mom trying to hide pureed spinach in brownies so her child eats veggies.

Shelter Bay series book #3 lives up to expectations!

Madeline Durand, a celebrity chef in her own right, is humiliated when videos of her husband having sex with someone else, goes on the internet while she's doing a public appearance. She goes back to her Grandmother's home to lick her wounds and find peace. Former Navy SEAL, Lucas Chaffee is also coming to grips with changes in his life.

    a reissue?

As I read this book I recognized that I had already read this book before so I was disappointed that it was a reissue. I did not recognize the title so was assuming that the book was new.

    Another Delightful Shelter Bay Story

On Lavender Lane by JoAnn Ross delivers a wonderful and compelling story about giving love a second chance.

Celebrity TV chef Madeline Durand perfect world was turned upside down when her husband’s sex video it the internet. She jumps at the chance to return to Shelter Bay to help her beloved grandmother start a new business on the family farm. Maddie doesn’t know it but the man who broke her heart many years ago has returned to Shelter bay.

Former Navy Seal Lucas Chaffee at a loss on the direction his life is now going to go. He had planned on working on restoring old homes with his father but his father’s sudden passing has him struggling to find a new path for himself. Lucas is thrilled that Maddy has come back home and vows to not let this second chance with her slip through his fingers. He knows he has a hard sell to ever get her to forgive him for what he did many years ago. But a Seal never gives up and Lucas has lots of town folks on his team.

Maddy and Lucas begin the process of getting to know each other as adults. They both realize the connection they had as teens is still there but more powerful. Will Maddy be able to forgive Lucas his youthful mistake and take a chance on a love of a lifetime?

Each book in this Shelter Bay series is a keeper. Lucas and Maddy’s story is no exception. Their chemistry reach and powerful and their meetings just snap and sizzle. Love getting a chance with each book to reconnect with old friends from previous books. You will enjoy On Lavender Lane, it’s a top notch romantic story.
