    THE LEGEND--PROLOUGE

A strong gold tom padded in past the waterfall. He sat down, shivering. Another tom, this time blue gray stepped out of the shadows. His blind blue eyes glazed. He was the other tom's brother. "Lionstar." The gray whispered. "Jayfeather. Has Hollyleaf or Bluestar come?" Lionstar asked. "No. Bramblestar and Firestar should be on their way." Jayfeather replied. At that moment, a large blue-gray she-cat stepped out of the waterfall. "Hollyleaf is coming up the slope. The rest should follow." She said. "Hello Bluestar." Lionstar said. They waited for a little, then Hollylleaf appeared. "Greetings, brothers. Hello, Bluestar." She said. She froze. Do you feel weird?" She asked the others, suspicious. A yowl peirced the night. A tawny tom bounded in. "Bramblestar!" They gasped. Jayfeather senced blood. He found the source. A cutin his left front leg. Bramblestar pulled away. "No! Help Firestar! He is down the slope. Hurt. Tired. He was attaced by rats. He told me to get here. If hee didn't make it, he said that he-" the rest of the words were cut off by another yowl. The Lionstar and Bluestar bounded down the slope. They sighted Firestar. They fought off the rats. They had a few cuts each. Firestar was the worst. "Jayfeather!" He cried. Instead, Hollyleaf raved down with cobwebs in her jaws. she set to work, covering the wound. The bleeding stopped. The cats carried him up the slope into the cave. They slid him off their backs. "Firestar." Jayfeather whispered. He would act as a mouthpeice for Firestar. The cats sat down in a circle. "Bumblestripe and Dovewing." Lionstar blurted after a moment. "Their kits-I mean, they have to be!" He meowed. Everyone looked at him. "He is right." Bluestar meowed solomly. Everyone nodded. "I don't want Dovewing involved in another prophecy though." Bramblestar meowed. "She will only know a little about it. One kit will find out. I know it. Then tell the littermates." Hollyleaf explained. Bramblestar nodded. Jayfeather bent down. He heard Firestar's rasping voice. "Four will unite of thunder, river, storm, and sea. The fated two will thrive, the others will perish of evil. The darkness is coming. Beware where it lurks. Only trust few, never look to the murk." Jayfeather repeated for Firestar. All of the cats nodded. "This is it." Hollyleaf said. Lionstar, Jayfeather, Firestar, Bramblestar, and Bluestar nodded in agreement. "Then let us begin." Lionstar meowed. The prophecy was spoken, and now fate may cloud the paths of the clans.
