Heartfelt, Sincere, and Unassuming Gospel ... Cheerful Even

Another in the long line of Doc Watson products. The selection is mostly old-timey enough for those to whom it matters, and yet somehow it is up-to-date enough for those who never heard the old-timey. The selections are performed impeccably, cleanly, neatly, and with obvious sincerity. The man knows his verse, too. Check out those liner notes. And, of course, we miss the irreplaceable Merle on this and all the others he can't do. Still, the listening puts me in such a good mood. Why? I almost expected the Doctor to whistle his good cheer somewhere in ''Precious Lord''.
