    more from this reviewer

A short but insightful book on dog behavior

I have read any number of books about dogs and dog behavior over the years, and Turid Rugaas' "On Talking Terms with Dogs: Calming Signals" is one of the most useful I have seen. She walks you through the basics of dog body language and learning to understand them, and helps you to work with dogs by using their own language. I highly recommend this book for anyone with a shy, nervous or fearful dog, or for anyone who wants to work with dogs.
