He led his former team, the Chicago Bulls, to six NBA championships and has racked up more awards than any player in recent NBA history. The winner of two Olympic gold medals, a onetime minor-league baseball player, and the most recognized athlete in professional sports today, Michael Jordan continues to make us believe that humans can fly. In this exciting biography, Matt Christopher, the number one sports series for children, goes on the court for an inside look at the triumphs and tragedies, the struggles and statistics, of superstar Michael Jordan. Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Candace Fowler
Popular sports book author Matt Christopher has written a fast-paced, readable biography of basketball star Michael Jordan that takes him from childhood to his return to professional basketball from baseball in 1995. Jordan comes across as hard-working, unassuming and generous, despite his huge success and amazing talent. The book doesn't leave out rough spots like the controversy over Jordan's heavy gambling or his father's tragic murder, but most of it is basketball, basketball and more basketball. A chart of Michael's NBA statistics, a list of his career highlights, and ten photographs add to the pleasure for fans.
School Library Journal
Gr 4-6Christopher systematically describes Jordan's career, starting in high school and following through his college, Olympic, and professional days (with the stop off at baseball). The book ends with the Bulls' loss to Orlando in the 1995 season playoffs. Those familiar with the athlete's career will probably already know some of the anecdotes covered in this book. For example, there's the oft-repeated fact that Jordan didn't make the varsity basketball squad in his sophomore year in high school, and his trials as a minor league baseball player are common knowledge. Yet, many fans will find this clearly written title among the most satisfying of all of the Jordan biographies. Although the author mentions controversies involving his subject's gambling and the tragedy of his father's murder, he recognizes that what many sports fans want is the highlights of players' careers and meaty descriptions of their key games. On these points Christopher scores.Todd Morning, Schaumburg Township Public Library, IL

On the court with michael jordan!!!!!

"On the court with Michael Jordan" is probably the best book I have ever read. It might be because I like basketball but it also tells about his life. It tells you everything that he did to get better at basketball. He tells about his childhood. What many people don't know is that he wasn't blessed with talent he had to practice every day. He was also a really smart kid. In high school he got so into basketball that he started skipping classes to go practice basketball. Nobody caught him for a while until his teachers started calling his house then he got in trouble at home. After that he buckled down and started studying. That's all I'm going to tell you about it cause it's a really good book I loved it the guy who wrote it was Matt Christopher he's the bomb like tick tick BOOOOMMM!! He knew all this because he interviewed him. I would like to interview him. If you like to play basketball, this is a good book for you. I've played for a long time so that's why I like it. I recommend this book to anyone who plays or likes basketball. I think you will love this book almost as much as I did. If you don't like sports I wouldn't read this if I were you. I love basketball and this book made me think of my coach Mr. Springer and his love of the game. So go home and get this book so you can read it.

Oh here comes jordan, big tounge wobblin, flyin through the air like a big dumb goblin. He's the only bull uglier than rodman. He gambles on the bobcats then hes got a problem. His whole basketball career turned wack. When he came back a Wizard like gandalf the black. Im so pretty,my hands are so fast il whup his face back to his hitler mustach. Ok. I know his father died and i feel for his familey, but his baseball career, now that was a tragedy. Yall saw him slapping reggie miller, bboy whats wrong with u? He fights like the little girls who make his nike shoes. Macdonalds and underpants as coporate backers, he stays at the Ritz cuz he sold out to crackers. And all yall, dont even start talking trash.
