This is a very important book. Fr. Hogan (later Bishop Hogan) was an Irish priest who immigrated to America and accepted the task of ministering to Roman Catholic, Irish railroad workers during mid 19th century. His memoir recounts the Civil War years and afterwards in a very rural and rough Missouri. It should be noted that he is writing in the time it is all happening, and his experiences are truly unimaginable to those of us in current times. This book shold not be forgotten. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
