Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
The Muppets have been performing their show in a theater. When the theater starts to fall apart, the entire Muppet crew is in a quandary as to what to do next. After much discussion, they decide to take their show on the road and see if they can succeed in different places with different audiences. This story includes a lot of humor, and the illustrations are excellent. They capture each character's inimitable mood, looks, and attitude. Subtle jokes add much to the story. For example, Louis the chicken disguises himself. When his friend asks him about the wetsuit he is wearing, he replies, "None of this wimpy going around things. Do I look like a chicken?" This tongue-in-cheek humor is found throughout the book. The advanced vocabulary surprised me. Words like stealth, projectile, discrete, and constabulary take this graphic novel up a notch. This book will be enjoyed by both girls and boys. At the end of the book, the author includes a gallery of posters of all the characters. Also included are pictures and descriptions of other books in the "Muppet Show Comic Books" series. Reviewer: Kathie M. Josephs
