Meet the Author

Celebrating the rebel and challenging the unthinking conformist is what my writing and poetry are about, for the most part. I find that we live in such timid, over-protective times that bravery has become a hallmark of the supposedly antisocial. We need to inspire ourselves and one another to find that human spirit that is capable of thriving and surviving in the wildernesses of the world, and unleash it in our overly-civilized personal lives. Satisfaction with living, even with all the inevitable mistakes and tragedies, is the destiny of the emotionally brave; on the other hand, bitter is the taste of life to the coward. How has western society become so miserable and sheltered? It all begins with paternalism and contemptuous misuse of people emanating from the real elite of our societies. I dislike rigid hierarchies since they are destructive and undemocratic. I don't see answers in socialism or Marxism, since they have proven to be even worse than what we have. I believe in a very different kind of free enterprise system, and participatory democracy, provided the democracy is well designed and not prone to abusing demographic minorities. Some see my attitudes and style as unusual for a woman to have, although I think that I reflect what a lot of women think and feel; perhaps I am different in that I have gained the confidence to truly speak my mind. To be a proud woman is to be rebellious - I see it as that simple an equation. My writing is not everyone's cup of tea - if you come from the unthinking conformist majority, you'll likely be bored or annoyed by the content of most of my work. On the other hand, if you are rebelling against the trends of governance over our societies, you will at least appreciate that I see the need for substantial democratic change in our world. As a private person, I came up against a dilemma: Should I take what I've learned about life, and simply build a happy little castle to live in, or should I take up my pen and write about what I believe in; the two aren't mutually exclusive, exactly, but involving myself with the affairs of the world takes away a little of my happiness. I'm glad to have made this choice. With thousands of downloads of my Ebooks, I seem to have established what I hoped for: A small but engaged audience that may be pleased to have found a kindred spirit in the world. I don't expect my work will ever be overwhelmingly popular (there's that disinterested conformist majority to deal with,) but I count my successes with every download and every nice review. Peace, and be civilized but authentic in all you do. I wish myself the same.
