    GET THIS BOOK!

This book is awesome. I used it to write my application essay, and I got into every school I applied to (including two Ivies!). The book is funny, well-written, and really helped me get my ideas going. If you want to enjoy writing your essay, and get into the school you want, read this book.

Excellent advice and easy to read.

Harry Bauld has written a page-turning guide that elimninates the pangs of writing the college essay. I not only learned to write my best essays with this book, but also strengthened my style and voice the most since reading the 'Elements of Style' by Strunk and White. Among the most memorable advice were 'Verbs and Nouns: The Muscles in a Sentence' and 'Words NOT to use.' An important subject, especially for students applying to small universities or liberal arts colleges, and done by a 'bauld' Horace Mann teacher, a lot of fun.

    Fantastic advice, a must-have book!

I'd heard about this book before from many of my older friends who used Harry Bauld's insightful advice while preparing to apply to college; now, I am currently a high school senior and this book could not have been more helpful during the entire college-application process! It has funny lil anecdotes that allow us students to get what goes on behind the scenes during the admissions process and know who we are writing for in our college essays; plus, these scenes are hilarious and actually fun to read. This book is a great help to anyone who needs to write an application essay, it goes above and beyond with witty advice from a pro and inspiring essay examples. I used to fall into the traps Bauld outlines and now I can ID them myself! LOVE this book! Like actually, it's amazing, give it to someone you know who is applying to college and they will be forever grateful haha
