Wow. I read this book twice, because I devoured it in one sitting the first time, and I wanted to slow down and enjoy the second time around. Don't buy this expecting a nice sparklie vampire love story. Do buy it if you like grown up vampires with real vampire desires and no predictable behavior. Theres blood and death, and thats balanced out by the growing love between the main characters. So glad there are more in this series available, but I might have to take a brake to save my heart from overload.

Although it took me a little while to get into this book, I really liked it. I think my problem with the beginning was that quite a few characters were introduced almost too quickly to keep up with who its who. It gave the book the feel of being a sequel. After a little research, it does appear that there are two books before this one even though this is #1 in the series. This book reminds me of the Anita Blake series. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series.

First the writer would have you think the main character defends the weak and innocent, yet she watches and (gets off on) a vampire draining a woman. She also gets off on having sex with men she doesn't like, trust or respect. This book was a waste of time.

I loved the dynamics of this story. I leaves you trying to guess whats going to happen next. Alittle long in the middle but a great read. once I started I couldn't stop I'm ready for the next book can't wait to see what happens to Alexa and Shaz next

What a great new twist on vampires/werewolves. I have read the 2 prequels and the first if Alexa's series and have enjoyed them i look forward to the other books of the series. I hope that there will be a balance struck with Alexa and her werewolf and vampire lovers. It reminds me somewhat Laurrell K Hamilton's Anita Blake's situation with her several lovers. A balance is there between them, they accept each other and it makes them all stronger becausr of their bonds. I would like to see this happen with this series. This series grabs you from the first pages and carries you into its world easily. You can understand the characters because they are presented so well by the author. You become invested in the story and rapidly turn pages as you race to see what happens next. There is great potential in this world Ms. Lee has ceeated

I really enjoyed this book as a summer escape read. It didn't require a lot of concentration to follow what was going on and every time I put it down, I was reaching for it again wanting to know what was happening next. For a Book 1, there's not a lot of background to set up characters and it jumps from one thing to the next quickly. You don't really form a bond with anyone, even the main character Alexa. However, I've already recommended this to several people.

This book is about Alexa, who happens to be a werewolf with special powers. There are 2 novella's that come before this story that give some background on Alexa, Arys and Raoul. They are not needed but give you insight to the relationships described in this story. Alexa is one of those characters where the more you read about her, the more you understand her personality. She has depth and extreme loyalty. With her profession, you wouldn't expect that, but she does surprise you. Alexa has a magical pull towards Arys who is a vampire. Neither of them understands the pull but in one night they become bound to each other until death. Arys character is that of a typical bachelor and womanizer. When he interacts with Alexa you see a different side of him that I think will grow in the next books. Alexa also has Shaz wanting her attention, who is one of her pack mates. He is the good guy that Alexa needs and wants but the bond with Arys might just kill any chance of them being together. Raoul is the alpha of their pack who just so happens to be framed for murder. Raoul is crazy. His actions and emotions are all over the place. I think that the novella might clear up any questions about him. I think if I had read the novella I might have felt more over the ending with Raoul.

This series is awesome! So glad I found it and to boot this one is free on Nook! Not that it is the same, but to me, puts me in mind of LKH Anita Blake series. At least some of it. There is a love triangle, death, werewolves, vamps...sex...has it all! Must read!

This book had me rapped up from the first page! The way they have the right amount of death and love really brought the story to life. I love the main characters with their different personalities and their many different needs. A must ready book if your tired of the lovey-dovey sparklie vampire crap!!!

I loved this book! I'm a huge reader and this was one of the few books that I couldn't put down. I consider this book as one I will read over again because I loved the supernatural things that are apart of this book like the psi ball, werewolves, vampies and hybrids.

I have had this book in my library for a few weeks now and kept putting it off to read later then I ran across the 2 prequels and got them and started reading them and then on to this book and could not put it down. The story line kept me intrigued and flipping pages as quick as possible. I cannot wait to get the rest of this series to see what Alexa does next.

I was somewhat disappointed to find that the Huntress prequel was the same beginning chapters of Once Bitten. The werewolf/vampire twist to the story was original and great! However, as I read on, I became less enamored with characters that acted more like teenagers than twentysomethings. Some playfulness in a story is good, but too much silliness within friviolous scenes combined with the heroine's *forced* aggressiveness ruined the read for me. I also thought the centuries-old male vampire lacked sophistication, and other than a mutual power resonating between him and the heroine, I could not understand what relevant qualities drew him to her in the first place. And kept him in pursuit. The writing lacked strength and fluidity, but time and practice should improve the author's newer works.

Couldn't put it dow. I wish it was longer. Felt like it needed a nire detailed ending.

If a book doesn't grab my interest pretty fast I move on to the next book. This book grabs your interest from the get go. The writer does well in keeping the story line moving without losing who the characters are throughout the book. Can't wait to read the next book.
