    I Also Recommend:

    Amazing!

I only became familiar with Nightwish last month when, on a recommend by my room mate, I bought their album Dark Passion Play. That was an excellent album, and I fell in love with their sound right away after that. I decided it was high time I checked out another one of their albums, so I went ahead and bought Once. Though I still like Dark Passion Play a little bit better, this album itself was still really amazing. I love the vocals and instrumentals, and each song really sounds as if a lot of work was put out in order to put each song together. Nightwish is an awesome group! I highly recommend this album or any other album by them. I plan to buy up their remaining albums very soon!

    Haunting and Hypnotic

I absolutly love Nightwish. I first heard "Nemo" on the credits for the movie "The Cave". It has a haunting quality to it that is just so unique. Tarja has a beautiful voice! I played "Nemo" for a few of my friends who have said that it is "strangely soothing," "hauntingly hypnotic," and "oddly familliar."

    Beautiful

As I have just been introduced into the realm of Nightwish, I must say that this CD has sealed the deal for my devotion. Not as heavy as some of Nightwish's previous realeases, but never the less, it is an outstanding acheivement! The songs are moving as well as compelling, like Creek Mary's Blood and Nemo. It seems that when you start from the beginning of this CD, the tracks are quite hard and heavy but then slowly begin to soften going down the line. As for me, my favorites are the first six on the CD, the rest are lovely, but are very calm and mellow. Nightwish is amazing!

    Awesome Band!!!

I am normally into classic Goth/Batcave/Deathrock and steered away from Metal but I really enjoy this band. The Power of all the songs is amazing. Too bad that Tarja was fired from the band. I don't know if they will be able to find another superb Soprano like her. I also like the way the vocals change from male to female in certain songs. Planet Hell, Siren, Nemo and I wish I had an Angel are my faves. I also like Ghostlove Score. I am sorry that I never saw them live.

    Powerful.

I received this CD for Christmas, after hearing "Wish I Had An Angel" and listening to 30-second samples on music store websites. This is one awesome CD!!! The music is a blend of pounding heavy metal with an opera vocalist, including classical instruments and added choirs to give the songs a deeper, darker feel. Alone, the music is powerful, headbanging, and beautiful, then there's the female vocalist, who's amazing voice is possibly, in my opinion, the most beautiful singing voice I've ever heard - she can do so much with it! So if you like this band already, or enjoy Finnish metal (yes, Nightwish is from Finland), or European music in general, then this is something you must get. Listen to the samples, and if you like what you hear then buy the album: YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! (I sure wasn't.)

    1st Nine Songs are Excellent

Once is the first Nightwish album I bought from this band. I am deeply impressed by the first nine songs. After the first nine, the songs start to lose musical power. It's not that that the last four songs are bad. It's just that the song "Ghost Love Score" and every song before it is the perfect blend of power and melody! That's my only criticism though. If the band cuts down their tracks to only keeping the best, all future albums will be top notch.

    Century Child II

If you like Nightwish,BUY THIS! It is very similar to Century Child . The writing and production work on this is more complex and detailed than the previous CD , but it is very much and extention of the bands previous works .The problem is that the entire disc comes off as one that had way too many people trying to get it perfect and in the process the CD lost some of the impact of it's predecessors .

    GREAT

This is a fabulous CD. I got it for my birthday and I love it. All the songs some how have this calming and great feeling to them. Tarja's voice is great! I love it.

Once: vaguely disappointing for one die-hard fan

Once created a sensation across the European continent, after its release. It had gone double platinum within no time; the song "Nemo" (track 3) had created its own fiasco, topping charts left and right until I could scarcely see straight. I'd reserved a copy months in advance--it arrived two weeks before the USA release date. I was elated until I actually listened to the CD. I won't say it isn't a good album--it is good! Nightwish's defining sound has gone through transformations, and this is but one of them, however, Once completely lacks the energy the majority of their albums have, and the lyrics are weak in comparison, lacking the rich portrayals of Wishmaster and Oceanborn. I am not at all impressed with most of the tracks. I couldn't even listen to the entire thing for about a month, since the entire album loses momentum somewhere after "Planet Hell". While this certainly isn't a "bad" album, I'd recommend their previous productions instead. Then again, I am passionately committed to Nightwish, so I have very high expectations from them. This is indisputably good music, when you look at Scandinavian metal or rock opera as a whole; however, when you look at Nightwish, this simply isn't up to par with most of their work.

    Once [Bonus Tracks]

That's about all I can say about this Cd. Other bands can try to make a Cd this good and it wouldn't work. Nightwish is one of the best bands in existance. I might even say the best. This album proves it. Tuomas has outdone himself. I tought that Wishmaster was their best Cd. This one takes that spot. It starts off heavy and stays on that course. Nemo is an awesome track with the contrast between the piano and electric guitar, while Wish I had an Angel is a little techno, which adds flavor. Planet Hell is awesome and Creek Mary's Blood is an achievement, with the native American chanting and poem added for dramatic effect. The best song however is Ghost Love Score. This is ten mintues of musical perfection. The lyrics are awesome as are the orchestra and Tarja's voice. Only Nightwish can pull this off. Again, the best cd EVER! Nightwish, props to you and Tuomas I salute you. Tuomas is the true muscial genius. Hats off to them all!!

    Once [Bonus Tracks]

This is my absolute, favorite Nightwish CD. I loved it! I am a huge Nightwish fan and I bought this one as soon as it came out. I love the lyrics to the songs and the catchy beats. Nemo is one of the best songs I've ever heard and that says a lot since I listen to a lot of music.
