Editorial Reviews

KLIATT
Sabrina and Daphne Grimm aren't just little girls: they are part of THOSE Grimms, and their family doesn't write fairy tales but chronicles their adventures as detectives for fairy-tale characters. In this fourth book in the series, the two girls (along with Granny Relda and some strange companions) head for their hometown of New York to find their friend Puck's family. When Puck's father is killed, Faerie is in an uproar, and the girls are on the case. Wall Street pirates, dwarves in the subway and the kindly Wizard of Oz both help and hinder them along the way to solving the murder as well as the mystery of their mother's secret life. A quick, fun read, recommended for school and public libraries. Reviewer: Deirdre Root

This book, although about a crime, could never be called a crime!

I love all of the Sisters Grimm books, but this was by far the best, because it actually takes place in a real and well- known area of the world, and although none of the Sisters Grimm books are at all realistic, this one was the most realistic because it actually takes place in a real city and it mentions many very real places in Manhattan. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

great book! great to read by yourself or with younger family members

The fourth installment in the series, Once Upon a Crime experiences a change in scenery and in supporting characters. In a welcome change from the setting of the first three books, the Grimm family travel from Fairy Port Landing to New York City in order to save Puck who was injured in the previous book. Throughout the book, many new Everafters, fairy tale characters, are introduced. These characters range from the Gingerbread Man to Sinbad. Buckley's interesting take on classic fairytales are especially evident as the Grimms travel all across New York City to try and find the answer to the murder of the king of Faerie, an 'underground' kingdom of the everafters in New York City and along the way, make shocking discoveries about their mother. The story is fast paced and the plot and storyline along with Sabrina's many sarcastic and witty comments and banter with her family make a winning combination. C.M.

The Sisters Grimm #4 Once Upon A Crime

The Sisters Grimm is one of the best books I have ever read. It is filled with adventure, danger , love and excitement. I really felt like I was watching a movie and instead of watching TV or listening to my Mp3 I would read it. I once almost read the whole book in one day! It makes you want to read more and more. I was so sad when it ended but then heard there was going to be a seventh on May 1,2010!!! But I dont know. They are my all time favorite books!!!! Read it.

    A Fairytale Best

Sabrina and Daphne Grimm are at it again, following in their relatives, (Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm¿s) footsteps. The sisters, Granny Relda, Mr. Canis (Big Bad Wolf), and Sheriff Hamstead (one of the little pigs) are on their way to New York. Taking along with them, injured Puck, the fairy boy, to an underground town in New York City to heal him. Little do they know that Puck¿s father is king of Faerie and that he is engaged!! They soon will discover the secrets that their missing mother had with the citizens of Faerie. The adventure all begins when Puck¿s father is killed. The girls must find the killer while on the way meeting Cinderella¿s godmother, the six dwarves, Sinbad, Scrooge, and another member of Scarlet Hand, the secret group that kidnapped their parents. Find out who killed the king and if the girls make it back to Ferryport Landing¿.alive. This book will make your imagination run wild!! It is full of adventures, and made me truly realize my love for fairytales. It also taught that not all people are trustworthy. This is a book any kid would love!!

    the best book in history

Sisters Grimm: Once Upon a Crime is a sad and fantastic book starring Sabrina and Daphne. At first Sabrina and Daphne were plain kids and were living their normal lives. Then their parents get kidnapped. Sabrina and Daphne encounter some crazy foster parents, but Sabrina thinks her grandma is the craziest. In this book Puck, a fairy is badly hurt, will he heal? Read the book to find out. I like this book because it is exciting and interesting. I recommend this book because it is sad and exciting. I recommend this book to people who like fairy tales.
