Overview

After a bitter marriage, Paxton seeks respite from his loss. Rediscovering his writing, he never expected creating a piece worthy of reading nor for two unsuspecting paths to cross in the most unconventional of ways.

Thousands of miles separated them, yet, he'd never felt closer to anyone. Finding out that happiness and love was attainable again, was one thing. Having Alissa, was another.

When the two meet, sparks fly, chemistry is beyond explosive, and emotions reach a boiling point. Their brief love affair ignited the fuse but what Paxton neglected to anticipate was that his son would fall for the sweet, meek demurred woman in Alissa or the fact the woman would be their salvation; in more ways than one.

Written to make you laugh, cry, swoon, and heat things up, Once Written, Twice Shy is the first book in The Broken Men Chronicles series.

Meet the Author

Born and raised in small town Northern Ontario, Canada, Carey Decevito has always had a penchant for reading and writing.

More than a decade later, with weeks of sleepless nights, where exhaustion settled into her everyday existence, she finally gave and put pen to paper (more like fingers to keyboard). She submitted to the dreams that plagued her. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Carey Decevito enjoys spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, travelling, and playing tourist in Canada's National Capital region. When life gets crazy, she seeks respite through her writing and reading. If all else fails, she knows there's never a dull moment with her prolific story-teller of a four-year-old daughter, her goofy husband and their two cats who she swears are out to get her.

With two published works under her belt, Once Written, Twice Shy is the first in her Broken Men Chronicles series.

I was offered a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“Once Written, Twice Shy” is the first in Carey Decevito's Broken Men Chronicles series. Paxton Lowell just seems like the typical all-around nice guy. He’s been wounded and left just a little bitter by his soon-to-be ex-wife’s infidelities, but the one constant and unshakable thing in his life is his love for his three-year-old son, Jasper, and who doesn’t just love that about a man. Trying to return his life to some assemblance of order, Paxton returns to writing – something he used to enjoy – and finds himself connecting with fellow writing enthusiast, Allie. Their friendship evolves, and after nearly a year of e-mail and late-night telephone chats (some we believe have obviously turned, shall we say, heated…), Allie and Paxton make plans to meet. The immediate physical chemistry proves what their long-distance attraction promised.

I enjoyed the story of Paxton and Allie. They have some very tender and authentic moments. “Once Written, Twice Shy” is kind of a play on the whole Internet dating scene with a bit of blogging and FanFic thrown in for good measure. Author Carey Decevito gives her readers a nice balance of “real” life mixed with the fantasy of a whirlwind romance. The relationship between Paxton and Allie evolves nicely, and the story realistically explores some of the challenges of divorced parents and “blended” relationships (and possible jealousies). I would have liked a little more development in characters, personalities and scene, but overall, “Once Written, Twice Shy” was an enjoyable read.

I look forward to the next Broken Men Chronicles installment.

    3-1/2 enjoyable stars.

Once Written, Twice Shy is about Paxton and Alissa's relationshi

Once Written, Twice Shy is about Paxton and Alissa's relationship. They fall in love when they finally meet in person after communicating over the internet for 10 months.  Paxton has a heartless ex-wife, Julie, who won't sign the divorce papers and just didn't want to let go, which is making his life miserable.  Alissa is a very kind and giving woman who makes both Paxton and his son, Jasper, very happy.

This is so well written that you can easily picture the people and places described. The characters are also really well described. Paxton is a very nice man and a wonderful father.  His only negative is not putting his foot down to his ex-wife and forcing her to sign the divorce papers because he doesn't want to upset his son by fighting with his mother. Alissa is almost too good to be true. She is quite intelligent but in a subtle way and will do absolutely anything for the people she cares about.  Jasper is a cute 4 year old that plays a big part in this story as well as adding to it in smaller ways throughout. He is part of a heart wrenching situation that is hard to deal with but had me routing for a good out come.

I won this book in a giveaway and must admit that it was not what I expected. While I am not a fan of erotica, the sex scenes were very detailed and hot but not vulgar. I just skimmed over some of the sex scenes because I thought they were boring after awhile. I found the way Paxton and Alissa were constantly wanting each other was a bit unbelievable.

I had a very hard time rating this book and thought it was a 3 star but then I realized that I was being prejudiced because I don't care for this genre. So I am giving it a 4 star because it really is well written with a great story line. And, bonus!, it didn't have many editing errors!

I would recommend this book to fans of erotica.

Holy hot tamales!  What a trip!

I love how this novel is written in the male POV.  It adds a definite twist to the story.  At the same time, there is such a brilliant flow, and the story is so well put together that you can’t help but relate to the characters.  Decevito is a very visually descriptive writer who draws you in to each and every aspect of the story with minimal effort on the reader’s part.  Her story is explicit and vividly visual without ever becoming crass.  She walks a fine line with this one and creates something that is brilliant.

The main characters in this story are amazingly developed.  You get to know them intimately as they get to know each other.  It’s quite interesting to see how they see each other and how they see themselves together.  The supporting cast fits quite well in the story, and you get to know them in that capacity.  I would have appreciated a bit more development as to who they were.  It would have given the story’s interconnectedness a bit more of a kick in the right direction.

Overall, this is a very intimate story that draws you in and won’t let you go.  Your emotions get completely wrapped up in the storyline, with some hot and bothered moments to break up the sadness.  It’s a brilliant trip for anyone who wants something a little out of the norm.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author/publisher/blog tour company in exchange for an honest review.

Paxton Lowell was dealt a low blow by his adulterous wife taking

Paxton Lowell was dealt a low blow by his adulterous wife taking off on him.  Sharing custody of their four-year-old son and trying to get his life back on track has never proved to be any more of a challenge.

Rediscovering his love for writing, Pax stumbles upon Alissa (Allie) on an online venue.  Conversations about their shared passions lead them to become more personal until one day, they chose to meet.

Between a meddlesome soon-to-be ex-wife who refuses to free Pax from their lawful binding, various family and health issues as well as leading a long-distance relationship, the man falls in love with the gifted woman he's met online.  If only he'd known that she was capable of saving more than just his love life.

"Once Written, Twice Shy" is one hot and sexy read that is bound to take you on a man's journey to finally get to his happily-ever-after.  You are bound to laugh, cry, get mad and hit something as well as suffer the wrath of the heat between this amazing couple.  Let's just say that a sweet child definitely adds to it all by warming your heart.

I personally can't wait to read more from this author's series!
