Meet the Author

A lifelong romance reader, Hope has dreamt of being a writer ever since she first touched the bright orange keys of her Fisher-Price typewriter. That dream has weathered a master's degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in education as well as a seven-year stint as a research consultant in Washington, DC. One day in 1993 after writing one too many technical reports, Hope sat herself down to face the cold, hard truth: she didn't want to analyze people or teach them. What she wanted was to write about them!

For the past eight wonderful years, she has been doing just that--writing life-affirming stories of love, redemption, and yes, passion! It's A Wonderfully Sexy Life (Harlequin Extreme Blaze, December 2006), Hope's Harlequin Blaze debut, is set in her native Baltimore, MD, home to steamed hard-shell crabs, neighborhood enclaves like Little Italy and Highland Town, and wonderfully quirky characters who hail strangers as "Hey, hon" and know from birth that real crab cakes mean lump crabmeat sans any fillers.

A dedicated preservationist, for more than five years Hope has made her home in the Fredericksburg Historic District, the setting for The Haunting, her second Blaze title, scheduled April 2007. Funny thing, Hope's heroine, Dr. Maggie Holliday, just happens to buy an historic house that looks a heck of a lot like Hope's former turn-of-the-century Victorian.

Currently Hope lives in Virginia with too many books and too many cats, not that she'd have it any other way. She loves to hear from readers and runs a monthly contest from her Web site at www.hopetarr.com.

Samantha has spent her entire life in the Finger Lakes region of central New York, where she lives with her husband, her yellow lab and her two cats (more pets are always an imminent possibility!). Sam has been writing since she was able to hold a pen, creating all kinds of stories, poems and even small books in her childhood. She was educated in creative writing with a focus on poetry as an undergraduate and then earned her master's in English and taught writing at a local university for more than ten years.

Discovering a deep interest in the environment, particularly the status of the world's coasts and oceans, Sam quit teaching and earned another dual master's degree in environmental geography and public administration. Sam's first book, Virtually Perfect, was sold in January 2004 while she was searching for environmental jobs upon completing her degrees. Receiving "the call" was a turning point that encouraged her to take another detour and pursue a full-time career as a romance author.

Keeping up with environmental interests, Sam supports several environmental organizations in addition to writing. She'd eventually like to merge her two major interests by writing sexy romances with environmental themes. Sam's favorite activities include building and paddling sea kayaks with her husband, gardening, candle making, cooking and collecting and reading tarot cards. Her future goals include traveling more and writing many, many books!

Cathy Yardley needs to get out more. When not writing, she is probably cruising the Internet, sleeping or watching D-list movies and adding to her unnatural mental store of character-actor trivia. She can hum along with all the theme songs on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" and is learning Japanese from anime. She considers Daria a positive role model. Her family is considering performing an intervention for her addiction to pop culture. For those similarly addicted, drop her a line at cathy@cathyyardley.com

Jennifer LaBrecque grew up with a passion for reading. In fourth grade, she wrote a short story for a class assignment. The teacher swore it moved her to tears. She also fast gained a reputation as a class clown in school. She had set her course.

Although, Jennifer began college on a journalism scholarship, she graduated with a degree in marketing. She went on to work in the buying department of an international athletic footwear retailer.

However, what she loved most about that job was regaling her co-workers with funny stories in the break room. Following a stint as a freelance writer, proofreader, and public relations consultant, Jennifer couldn't ignore the obvious. She began to write romance.

Today, Jennifer juggles her inquisitive, delightful daughter, the pest control company which she co-owns with her heroic husband, four bad cats, a cherished dog, and writing romantic comedy. In her spare time, reading remains a passion, as does hiking, and talking.

She loves to hear from readers. Snail mail goes to P. O. Box 801068, Acworth, GA. 30101. Keep checking in, as a website is in the works.

Debbi Rawlins currently lives with her husband in Las Vegas, Nevada. A native of Hawaii, she married on Maui and has since lived in Cincinnati, Chicago, Tulsa, Houston, Detroit, and Durham, North Carolina during the past 20 years.

Now that she's had enough of the gypsy life, it'll take a crane, a bulldozer, and a forklift to get her out of her new home. Not that her friends would let her leave Las Vegas even if she wanted to. Debbi's home has become a retreat for writers from both coasts and her guest rooms are rarely empty. In fact, one friend visited with her three cats over a year ago and hasn't left yet!
