Meet the Author

Lori Wilde can't remember a time when she didn't want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She's taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill, her red heeler/Australian shepherd dog, Cinnamon, and four ducks, Quacker, Big Guy, Affleck, and Sheepidy.

You can visit Lori at her web site: www.loriwilde.com or write to her at loriwilde@yahoo.com.

Award-winning author and screenwriter Jo Leigh began her career in 1975 as a reader in the Comedy Development department for 20th-Century Fox. She left Fox in 1977 to go on location with The Deer Hunter. She then worked as an auditor, associate producer, and producer on such projects as When She Says No for CBS, Beulah Land for NBC, Great American Traffic Jam for NBC and Clan of the Cave Bear for Jozak Productions. In 1987 she became head of development for the McCarron Film Corp., overseeing a roster of 12 feature films.

As a screenwriter, she's had a series idea purchased by Cinemax, and has worked as a script consultant on more than 50 screenplays. Currently, her screenplay Apache Tears is in development with Northern Lights Productions in Canada.

Jo also teaches writing in two-day workshops across the country, and is a frequent guest speaker at writing conferences. Her tape on Advanced Plotting from the Dallas Romance Writers of America conference is the bestselling tape in RWA's history.

Her first Silhouette novel, Suspect, was awarded Best First Series Book by Romantic Times Magazine, garnered the 1994 Romance Writer of the Year award from Pike's Peak RWA, and was a finalist for Best Romantic Suspense Novel of 1994 by Romance Writers of America.

Her first Temptation novel, One Wicked Night, was a finalist for Best Short Contemporary Novel of 1998 by Romance Writers of America.

She also ghostwrote Great Big Beautiful Doll--; The Anna Nicole Smith Story for Barricade Books.

Jo currently writes for Harlequin American, Harlequin Temptation, Harlequin Intrigue, and Harlequin special series. She lives in Nevada with her three enormous cats, Zeke, Coco, and Molly. You can reach her at her website: www.joleigh.com

Sarah Mayberry was born in Melbourne, Australia, and is the middle of three children. From the time that she first "stole" paper from kindergarten and stapled it together to make "books," Sarah has always wanted to be a writer. In line with this ambition, on graduation from high school she completed a bachelor of arts degree majoring in professional writing, then sat down to write a book. When inspiration didn't strike, she began to wonder if, perhaps, she needed to live some life first before writing about it.

This still left the burning question of how to pay the rent. She found her way into trade journalism, working off the principle that it was better to write anything for a living than nothing at all. Her time there lead to the opportunity to launch a new decorator magazine for one of Australia's major retailers, an invaluable and grueling experience that she found very rewarding.

But the opportunity to write fiction for a living soon lured Sarah away. She took up a post as storyliner on Australia's longest running soap, Neighbours. Over two years she helped plot more than 240 hours of television, as well as writing freelance scripts. She remembers her time with the show very fondly — especially the dirty jokes and laughter around the story table — and still writes scripts on a freelance basis.

In 2003 she relocated to New Zealand for her partner's work. There Sarah served as storyliner and story editor on the country's top-rating drama, Shortland Street, before quitting to pursue writing full time.

Sarah picked up a love of romance novels from both her grandmothers, and has submitted manuscripts to Harlequin many times over the years. She credits the invaluable story structuring experience she learned on Neighbours as the key to her eventual success — along with the patience of her fantastic editor, Wanda.

Sarah is revoltingly happy with her partner of twelve years, Chris, who is a talented scriptwriter. Not only does he offer fantastic advice and solutions to writing problems, but he's also handsome, funny and sexy. When she's not gushing over him, she loves to read romance and fantasy novels, go to the movies, sew and cook for her friends. She has also become a recent convert to Pilates, which she knows she should do more often.

She would love to hear from readers via her email address at sarahjmayberry@hotmail.com

Chris Marie Green writes as Crystal Green for Harlequin and Silhouette. She loves to travel: some of her favorite destinations include Great Britain, New Orleans, Italy and Japan. In fact, you can see a couple of her travelogues on her web site at www.crystal-green.com.

When Chris was nineteen years old, she wrote a fan letter to Valerie Sherwood, a historical author who answered her gushing missive and inspired Chris to write her first romance. Today, that manuscript resides in a dusty file cabinet and will never see the light of day. However, Chris has moved on and feels lucky to have other stories published by the Special Edition, Blaze and Bombshell lines.

Cindi believes in love at first sight, good chocolate, cold champagne, that people who don't like animals can't be trusted, and that God obviously has a sense of humor. She also believes in writing fun, sexy romances about people she hopes readers will fall in love with.

Blessed with an overactive imagination and a love of reading, Cindi wrote her first story at age eight about the family's Siamese cat. At age 12 she submitted her first manuscript, hand-written and illustrated with crayon drawings, to Little, Brown and Company. She received a very kind rejection letter advising her to study hard and keep working and one day she might be a real writer.

In addition to writing, Cindi enjoys reading, quilting, gardening, hiking, and downhill skiing. She lives in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado with her husband, who she met on a blind date and agreed to marry six weeks later, and three spoiled dogs.

Cindi loves to hear from readers. Email her at Cmyers1@aol.com.

Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a computer career and pursuing a master's degree at night when an instructor remarked she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit to academic journals. Once the seed was planted, however, Stephanie immediately turned to creating romance fiction in her spare time.

"I never saw myself as a comedy writer, until a Harlequin editor asked if I could write comedy. I lied and said not only did I write comedy, but I had a great idea for a book she might be interested in, and shot her an idea from the top of my head. When she said she liked it, I told her I had three chapters finished to send her right away. Then I went home and wrote like a madwoman. That book was my first Harlequin comedy, Irresistible."

Harlequin purchased Irresistible from Stephanie in the fall of 1995 for their Love and Laughter line. In another two years, she left her computer career to write full-time. She now writes for the Harlequin Temptation and Harlequin Blaze lines, having gained notoriety for her spicy romantic comedies, such as Too Hot to Sleep and It Takes a Rebel.

Stephanie lives with her husband in Atlanta, Georgia, her laptop permanently attached to her body. Readers can write her at P.O. Box 54266, Atlanta, GA 30308, or through her web site.
