One-Eyed Cowboy Wild

Overview

Gene Hill hadn't seen his brother, Zeke, for three years, ever since Zeke locked horns with another hand on the Redboot ranch, ornery Charlie Bickford. Suddenly, out of the clear Wyoming sky, Zeke just rode up--but he had changed. Gene used to admire his brother's grit and nerve. Now he started to wonder whether it was a sign of self-assurance--or the mark of a cold-blooded killer.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Not a standard Western, this first novel is a fine tale of the West with more conversation and character development than gunplay. Gene and Zeke Hill work on Redboot Ranch along with an ugly customer named Charlie Bickford, who picks a quarrel with Zeke and is killed by him in a fair fight. Gene helps Zeke cover up the death, and his guilt over being an accomplice affects his relationship with his brother, friends, and the woman he loves. Nesbitt writes in a brisk, spare, masculine style well suited to the story; convincing characters, minute details of life on and off the ranch, and the author's evident love of the land's beauties also enrich the text. More books from this talented pen would be most welcome. Recommended.-- Sister Avila, Acad. of the Holy Angels, Minneapolis
