Mel and Paul seem to have it all but beneath the thin veneer of their marriage lies a rotten core. She is unreasonable and he is passive - just two of their many problems. Mel doesn't know it yet, but she has this night, and only this one final night, to figure out what the future holds.
Wow wow wow! This is an AMAZING read! I think I still have chillbumps from reading this, I do know that I still have tear stains down my face. What an amazing short story! This story grips you right from the start with its smart, thoughtful and intense dialog, then ends in a "train-wreck" that will leave you emotionally drained.
I don't normally go for short stories because they always leave me wanting more. But... this one is just enough! Not too short, not too long, its perfect!

Wendy L.Young writes a short story with passion that will touch everyone, that is, if you have a heart. The ending leaves you looking in the mirror and you just might not like what you see.

A very good short story. This short story changes totally from the beginning to the end. Didn't see the changes coming. The story is a very good thought provoking story.

This is a short story packed with a lot of emotion. Did paul come back in spirit to end the marriage. Was Mel so consumed in her failed marriage and Paul's lack of, and her anger for Paul not having brought back the ingredients for her biscuits that caused her to have those visions. I felt sorry for Paul, it seemed that Mel carried a lot of anger, and Paul couldn't handle it or didn't know how. Sometimes people have to step back and see all the good they have in their lives.

However, if you've been a long relationship or marriage... you'd get it. The characters sound a lot like most married couples these days. In the end, though... this story reminds us that sometimes we have to remember what we love about someone... not what we dislike about them. Great job writer!
