Actress/conservationist Stefanie Powers is best known for her role as sleuth Jennifer Hart in TV's long-running Hart to Hart, but this memoir consists of far, far more than reminiscences about that popular show. Born in Hollywood, Powers was born early enough to have caught the last great wave of Tinsel Town's Golden Age, giving her an opportunity to mix with luminaries including John Wayne, William Holden, Bing Crosby, Lana Turner, Glen Ford, Rock Hudson, James Garner, Helen Hayes and David Niven. One from the Hart earns its title best, however, in its stories about Powers' personal life, most powerfully perhaps in her stories about her enduring relationship with her mother and her own battle with breast cancer. This perceptive, heart-gripping memoir deserves a wide audience.
