Overview

She’s been there, done that—but never with the sexy hockey player next door.

Old Port Nights, Book 1

Dating, marriage, divorce…Audra Leone has been there, done that. These days she’s focused on her antiques business and doesn’t need a man complicating her life.

Still, she can’t help but notice the flirty ex-hockey player who owns the sports bar next door, but he’s got two strikes against him. He’s her landlord, and he’s almost ten years younger—which puts Audra way outside the flock of twenty-somethings vying for his attention.

When Scott Beckett sees Audra hasn’t closed shop during a major snowstorm, he checks in on her—to find her shackled to a post. He’s more than happy to help and close the distance she keeps firmly between them. He’s well over his playboy days and hungering for something stronger, something lasting.

One spontaneous, bone-melting kiss leads to an explosive night of passion, and Scott realizes the quiet antiques lady is everything he craves. But it’ll take some doing—and maybe a disaster or two—to convince her to give forever a chance.

Warning: Contains a wounded heroine who’s put her heart on ice, and an ex-jock who still knows how to run interference on her defenses. Could have you wishing for snow in July.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
11/25/2013
Audra Leone, 43 and single, is determined to make her antiques shop a success on her own. Her landlord, Scott Beckett, may be an attractive, flirtatious 34-year-old former athlete, but she intends to keep their relationship strictly professional. After Scott rescues her from a couple of predicaments, Audra realizes that he is more than his tabloid image, and that she needs more in her life than just her shop. Hunter (Bending over Backwards) is completely comfortable with the limitations of the novella form. The quick pace ensures that the reader will never get frustrated with Audra’s inner conflict, even if both protagonists’ backstories could use more depth. The sex scenes are detailed but well-balanced with emotional reveals and character moments, and the relationship is based on more than lust. Fans of erotic contemporary romance will enjoy this quickie. (Jan.)

    Disappointing

    ## DON'T BOTHER. I've been a Samantha Hunter fan for a long time but this book was just a complete and utter disappointment. How she gets away with charging this much for 68 pages is beyond me. It should be required to list the number of pages in the overview. The story was underdeveloped for sure. The couple was in love after one night of sex. Even the sex scenes weren't inspiring enough to merit a star. And the ending was so abrupt I went back to see if I missed some pages. Skip this one. I wish I had.
