Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite One Mind's Words II by Jennifer Johnson is a beautiful collection of poems that reflect on life, emotions, and the changes that happen in our lives. The poems are subtle yet emotional with a lot of depth and underlying messages to the reader. The Life Lesson at the beginning of each poem motivates readers more to handle their lives in a positive manner and it opens one's perspective to a wider plane. All the poems have some meaning, some message, and much profound advice. The style is simple, appealing, and the use of metaphor is wonderful, making the poems classy and excellent. The poet has done different types of formatting for different poems, making the visual aspect greater. My personal favorite is 'As I Walk' which inspires a person to keep looking out for opportunities in life. 'Paths' is another beautiful poem. It is profound with a message and the imagery is wonderful. There is a lot of beautiful imagery in these poems, enhancing the visual aspect. The poet also speaks about life's changes and how things alter as we age. The poet touches a relevant topic in her poem 'Nuclear Dream.' Abuse is something that many of us are subjected to and the author tells us to prevent abuse and save others and oneself from it. Overall, I was impressed by this collection. It is something that any of us can relate to and understand. I look forward to reading her next collection.
