Overview

More than two decades ago, Olivia Lovett left her old life behind in the red dirt of Oklahoma and forged a career in Nashville as a country music star. Now her voice is failing, forcing her to find a new dream just as the secrets of her past come knocking at the door. Long-time friend Andrew Grant agrees to partner in a new business venture—but would he stick around if he knew her whole story?

After the tragic loss of her father, twenty-one-year-old Ellie Evans headed to Nashville seeking more than just fame. For two years, she’s waitressed, strummed, and sung her way to what may finally be her big break when Olivia offers to sign her to the budding record label. More than anything, Ellie just wants to be seen: by her future fans, by Nick Perry—a fellow musician with a killer smile and kind eyes—and above all else, by the mother who abandoned her. If the spotlight never shines on her, will Ellie ever feel whole?

One More Song to Sing is a romantic drama about the power of forgiveness, second chances, and a God who never fails to see us.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"This novel is a keeper! Endearing characters hit all the right notes and feel like lifelong friends-or, at least readers will want them to be. Nashville becomes a secondary character of sorts, sharing its spotlight with the intriguing ins and outs of the country music industry. Behind the sweet romances and the rising star plot, however, is the real star of this show-a tender message of belonging and forgiveness that leaves behind a lingering melody of grace."

"One More Song to Sing will have your heart singing. As if fresh off the set of the television series Nashville, this book captured me from the first strum of Ellie's guitar with the drama of a young singer reaching for her dreams only to discover so much more. Harrel has a way with words that made me feel the music, hear the roar of the crowd, taste the angst of fragile hearts, and long for a happy ending. Like a love song that weaves inside and fills you with hope, this beautifully written, heart-tugging story about loss, second chances, and God's providential grace in the darkest of circumstances will linger with you long after the sweet ending. A brilliant debut novel!"

“One More Song to Sing”, the debut novel, by Lindsay Harrel is a touching story of fear, loss and finally redemption. The main characters grab your attention and your heart through trials, misunderstanding, and lineally resolving in love and happiness. The way God works in the lives of these main characters is evident throughout the book. Nice work for a beginning novelist. Lindsay Harrel was a new to me author and this is her first book. A very GOOD first book, I may add. I am going to make it a point to read her next book based on this one. She has created a wonderful story, populated with good characters with a very believable plot to match. I enjoyed it very, very much. The spiritual element is quite good as well. I love it when a writer who writes Christian fiction is not afraid to be bold about her faith. I will be reading more from Lindsay Harrel. *I was given a copy of this book. My review is my own opinion.

A new young singer comes to Nashville to reach for her dreams, but her dreams are not just of becoming a star, but to find a mother she never met. Ellie longs to belong, to find her place in the world. This story gives us a picture of the music industry and what the music community is like. But more than that, it shows us family relationships. It explores the depth of how generations can be affected by bad decisions and how the cycle of life can be repeated unless something changes. We see the burden of those decisions on each person and how it has shaped their life. While the story of Ellie becoming a recording artist is what’s currently happening, the story is much bigger. It is a story of forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing. And there’s some romance, too! It’s hard to believe One More Song to Sing is a debut novel. The story is well crafted and the characters are well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I recommend it highly. I can’t wait to see what Lindsay Harrel will write next.

Lindsay Harrel’s debut novel is a well-spun story! The story is one of hardships and successes, generational curses and the ability to overcome them, trials, heartaches, forgiveness, and love. One More Song to Sing tells the story of one girl’s quest to find her mother and the story of the mother who left that child behind and the reasons why she left her. It shows how each one of the decisions in this book affect many different lives. There are many different relationships in this story and each bring unique challenges to the interweaving of the different character’s lives. I love how you see the effects that one person’s life has on many others. Ultimately, you see the love that each character has for each other. There is the love of a grandma and granddaughter, a mother and daughter, roommates, co-workers, friends, and significant others. But most importantly, you see what a relationship with God looks like and the struggles that each character faces on their journey of faith. It is their faith and God’s love and grace for them that help them make it through. The forgiveness that is offered in this story demonstrates the forgiveness that God offers us. There are too many wonderful things I loved in this story to mention them all here, so I will end with this. Read this story! You will not be disappointed with the depth of this first-time author’s story. I look forward to many more stories from Lindsay Harrel in the future.
