Overview

Dear Reader,

In February 2013 I gave a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. Standing a few feet from President Obama, I warned my fellow citizens of the dangers facing our country and called for a return to the principles that made America great.

Many Americans heard and responded, but our nation’s decline has continued. Today the danger is greater than ever before, and I have never shared a more urgent message than I do now.

Our growing debt and deteriorating morals have driven us far from the founders’ intent. We’ve made very little progress in basic education. Obamacare threatens our health, liberty, and financial future. Media elitism and political correctness are out of control.

Worst of all, we seem to have lost our ability to discuss important issues calmly and respectfully regardless of party affiliation or other differences. As a doctor rather than a politician, I care about what works, not whether someone has an (R) or a (D) after his or her name. We have to come together to solve our problems.

Knowing that the future of my grandchildren is in jeopardy because of reckless spending, godless government, and mean-spirited attempts to silence critics left me no choice but to write this book. I have endeavored to propose a road out of our decline, appealing to every American’s decency and common sense.

If each of us sits back and expects someone else to take action, it will soon be too late. But with your help, I firmly believe that America may once again be “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Sincerely,

Ben Carson

Dr. Carson, being a black man, understands racial divide. Being a surgeon at the top of his field, and sitting on the Board of one of the nation's most prestigious hospitals, he understands success by genuine accomplishment. Coming from a background of poverty, he understands adversity, and how to overcome it. And as a doctor, he understands healthcare better than any politician. Being a successin his own right, who has been so generous over the years, having set up a foundation with his own money, to provide funding and education fro disadvantaged kids, he undertsnads what it means to give generously. Needed the approval of no one, he understands the need to speak freely without fear of being bullied by those who oppose him, and see fro Policail Correctness for what it is: speaking in a way to gain political advantage, by withholding those thoughts that might come under attack. He recognizes that to be politically correct, one must first be a coward, caving to the bullies that try to tramp out with insults and scorn, anyone who resists being forced against their will to comply with the will of the elite. Dr. Carson most resembles in mind, spirit and dedicated success, those great and wise men, who first drafted, and signed, the Founding Documents of the greatest nation on God's green earth. His books have proven to be a breath of fresh air, in a world polluted with bogtry and small-mindedness, wanting freedom for anyone who complies with their demdnas and the extermination of anyone who proves inconveneient to their aim. God bless again, as He has obviously done so already, the good work of a great man.

i chose three stars arbitrarily, and no, this is not a review. It is a rebuke of those (now including me) who post their opinions in the guise of a review. I now plan to purchase and read this book because of the closed-mindedness of those who denigrate this work without bothering to read it. Take the time to engage the thoughts and concepts, don't just dismiss them uncritically as conservative or liberal rehashing. That's being lazy and taking cheap shots. Whether Dr. Carson works for Fox News or MSNBC has nothing to do with the merit of his ideas and proposals.

Ben Carson wants to save America's Future and believe we still can. I am with him all the way! What an incredible man and fantastic human being along with his wife, Candy Carson. I feel sorry for all of those of you out there who do not share his views. One sided thinking is what he is talking about and I am afraid that means people like LeeShaffer.

Ben Carson is proof that just because one has (in this case) of Doctor of Medicine degree, it doesn't mean that he is a good
thinker. The book is virtually non-readable in that it is just a rehash of tired and boring conservative talking (but not thinking)
points. Just the fact that Carson has stopped working as a doctor and now works for Fox News is enough evidence to
realize that his book and the ideas contained therein are of little use in terms of trying to solve the problems of the United
    States.

A profound book written by an amazing man! A message of uniting the American people and how to better have discussion among people with differing views so that we can fix what's going wrong in our country. We need more messages of unity and less of division, every person in America should read this book.

I've followed Dr. Carson for years and enjoy all his books. This one is no exception. Well written, by Dr. Carson and his wife. In this book Dr. Carson starts out by discussing his speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast (including the text from that speech) and lays out his ideas of how to get the USA back on the path of prosperity. Without pointing fingers or insulting others, he lays out a vision that I believe most Americans can support. I feel sorry for those who wrote negative reviews who haven't read the book. This is disingenuous and best and dishonest at the worst. I recommend that every, thinking American read this book and make your own decision. Don't let hatemongers tell you what to think.

An amazing book by an amazing man. Dr. Carson spent over 30 years saving the lives of children - a saint of man by any estimation and he has great, common sense beliefs. If America has any hope for long term prosperity, we need to elect someone with Dr. Carson's intellect. Today, the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced the economy actually shrank in the 1st quarter as its original economic report was revised. For a long time, the term brain surgeon has been used in the lexicon to denote brilliance and to signify that some other task pales in comparison to the complexities of neurosurgery; i.e. “It’s not brain surgery.” Well, politics isn’t brain surgery but enough lawyers already. Americans are hurting and we need a smart leader. Washington DC has cranes dotting the skyline as the Emerald City is growing and life is good there. Six of the ten wealthiest counties are commuter counties of DC. The rest of the nation has foreclosure signs dotting our landscapes and we pay $3.78 for gas for poor paying jobs. Please run for President Dr. Carson.

This book was very informative and I think Dr. Carson is one of the best choices to run this country. Anyone saying differently was determined to hate it before they ever read it. I laughed when I read where one person wrote that Dr. Carson is a source of divisiveness in this country. Obviously a close minded Obama lover who, by the way is the main source of divisiveness now running rampant in this country. Spare me the criticism of his "right wing" views. His views are strictly from a man who loves this country and chooses to believe in the basic principles that America was founded on.

An excellent book for someone who needs to know what is going on

An excellent book for someone who needs to know what is going on in America
and some very good, basic solutions to solve these problems. The only problem that I find will the book is that he believes that people from opposite sides can work things out but I feel that our Federal and state governments have reached a point that it is impossible for these people to work together. I feel that the only way to get our government back on track is either a third party becomes a real force or that we impose 2 term limits on Congressmen. Another problem I see is how do you pick qualified candidates to vote for? For example, in our last school board meeting every candidate (5) was going to raise teacher salaries, improve schools, raise test scores, etc. but not one said how he or she would do it. Newspaper coverage of the candidates debate was a joke - the local high school team had a bigger spread in the paper.
