A great spooky read for middle school kids and up!

I loved this book! It was a terrific blend of both spooky suspense and Christian perspective. This book did not skimp on the scary in favor of the Christian aspect. I can't wait for the second book!

    Highly Recommended

"One October" is a very well written book that keeps the reader in constant suspense and wondering at the end. The writer does and excellent job of weaving in a Christian overtone. Eleven to fourteen year-olds will enjoy this book very much. "One October" deserves a sequel. I hope the author will follow through.

    Awesome! A must read...

Great book. My son is 12 and loved it. My Daughter is 16 and she couldn't put it down. After they read it we passed it around and all have thoroughly enjoyed it. Suspenseful but not scary. Definately a book that can be enjoyed by parents and kids alike.

    Highly Recommended

The author read a few chapters to my classes, and the children were hooked. They eagerly asked for me to read the rest of the book. The book is descriptive and engaging. Students will enjoy predicting what will occur next and looking for clues within the text.
My students are anxiously awaiting a sequel.

    A MUST READ!!

Although the recommendation for reading this book was ages 10-14, I thoroughly enjoyed reading "One October" myself. It is a well-written book that keeps the reader interested--you don't want to put this book down until you are finished. My 12- and 14-year-old daughters both read and enjoyed the book as well. We are anxiously awaiting Steve Stratton's sequal to "One October"!

    Excellent Halloween read

October is my favorite time of year so I did a book search on "OCtober" and I came across One OCtober by Steve Stratton. The book is only 63 pages but the author really gets your attention through out. There are only a handful of characters in the story so it is easy to follow along. This is a neat short story to read around Halloween time. THe story takes place around Halloween in the south. He leaves you guessing at the end of a possible sequel. This story would make a good short movie for television or home video. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the Halloween horror genre. This book can be read in around 2 hours. I would say this book is geard toward teenagers but I am in my 40's and enjoyed it totally.

Love this book! I work with middle-school teens and think this book will be a perfect read for our fall camp later this year. I can't wait to read this fireside surrounded by the fall ambiance and see what our teens think =)
This book has the right balance of creepiness and suspense without going overboard. I'm ready for part two!!
