Overview

For those who love a little rock 'n' roll attitude with their Christian pop, Australia's Paul Colman Trio are just the ticket. Their 2002 U.S. debut, New Map of the World, was an instant hit, garnering PC3 a Dove Award for New Artist of the Year and a Grammy nomination for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. One continues in that same vein, offering hummable pop-rock melodies that don't distract from the group's meatier-than-most message. One has catchy radio-ready hits aplenty ("I'll Be with You," "Live It!"), but they come with a rare challenge: Love those you don't want to love, forgive those who may not deserve it. This theme is aptly displayed on the excellent track "Solution," in which the lyrics throw down a spiritual gauntlet: "Have we forgotten Him and made religion king? Love and grace are what we should be offering," Colman chides. Colman isn't afraid to preach in his songs, what's more, his is a message Christians need to heed.

All Music Guide
The Paul Colman Trio, composed of members Paul Colman, Grant Norsworthy, and Phil Gaudion, released their sophomore project One in September 2003. Through the album, the Australian-born pop
ock band communicates a message of reconciliation within the Christian community. In an interview with the group's label, lead singer Colman shared, "I've often wondered what it would be like if everyone who professed to follow Jesus lived in harmony with each other. What if in the Christian community there were no divorces and families truly reconciled? Wouldn't people be busting down the doors to see what was going on?" Songs include "Pray," "Big Blue Planet," and "One Generation." ~ Ashleigh Kittle Slater
