Overview

There are lonely, single skeins of yarn in every knitter’s closet — casualties of projects discarded in mid-row, single balls of luscious alpaca or cashmere that was too expensive to buy more than one, the leftovers from long-completed projects. Wherever they came from, those single skeins are a minor source of guilt for knitters everywhere. They really should be used, but for what?

Here are 101 original and charming solutions to the perpetual one-skein problem. Contributed by yarn shops across the country, there are hats, mittens, scarves, bags, socks, baby sweaters, belts, headbands, a cell phone carrier, and even a tea cozy and a set of coasters. Worth the Price

This book is nice sized, has nice variaty and nice patterns. The patterns are very nice and clear, and they are almost all done in the round. The organization of this book is nice because they sort the patterns by weight of yarn. My only negative comment is that it is in paperback so it won't sit open while trying to read a pattern. Overall a worthwile purchace.

    Worth the Price

This book has great projects for all of us with a ball yarn leftover from another project. The designs are creative and are rated by skill. Best book I ever bought for the money.

    Wonderful

I have been searching for some new patterns for hats and scarves, especially. This book provided those variations and more! And all use a minimal amount of yarn. I especially appreciated the listing of yarn shops. I went in search of the shop nearest where I live and was delighted at what I found there.

Another Great Addition to the One Skein Wonder Series

I love the One Skein Wonders series and 101 Yarn Shop Favorites is another great addition to the series. The patterns in this book are all submitted by yarn shops all over the United States as their favorites. While there are all sorts of small projects in this volume, the shawlettes and scarfs always catch my eye. But two other attractive projects are Monica's Flowers and the tea cozy. Both of these have been added to my "To Try" list. These are good, solid patterns for those of us who carry a small project around with us all the time or who typically buy one skein to many for project!
