Ms. MacGillivray spins another glorious tale, and hits all the points with her usual elan. Noel de Servian and Lady Skena MacIain are seeking peace and love in their lives. Holding the keep, Craigendan, she worries that a stronger force will take away her powers and leave her children without an inheritance. For his part, he is tired of war and anxious for a home of his own-a family to love. This story has all the elements: adventure, love, joy, sorrow and, of course, unparalleled romance. There is mystery, as well, when it seems Skena's husband is not dead--or is he? Haunted by his ghost, the lady fears for her children and herself as strange things begin to happen. Intrigue follows quickly as it becomes apparent that something - or someone is plotting.. Skena is a heroine in the finest tradition of Ms. MacGillivray's story telling. She is smart and beautiful-but not in the traditional way. Skena has an inner beauty and poise, and she has courage as well. Noel is a hero you can't help but love. He is generous and gentle, yet strong-a warrior of fierce and absolute skill, who can protect what is his. This, the 3rd book in the Dragons of Challon series, is a magnificent tale, one you will want to read over and over. I recommend it highly. Fans of Deborah MacGillivray have waited a long time for the third book in her Dragons of Challon series, but the wait has been worth it. As usual, MacGillivray delivers a historical novel that is both accurate and authentic in historical knowledge and geography. After the massacre at Berwick and the complete defeat at Dunbar, Skena MacIain is left a widow with two small children and knows she must remarry to keep her home. When Noel de Servian is found near death in a white-out blizzard, Skena nurses him back to health only to find he is the Englishman that Longshanks has given title to her home. They are attracted to each other and Noel wants her by his side to rule together...but Fate intervenes when her supposedly dead husband returns. One Snowy Knight is filled with delightful twists and turns that give this book depth. I highly recommend it. Cynthia Breeding, author

One Snowy Knight by Deborah MacGillivray Scotland- 1296 Winter has come early this year and with the drought in summer, Craigendan Keep's food supply is extremely low. Lady Skena MacIain is a widower with two small children, managing the whole keep since her husband's death. While she may be strong, and can take on many a burden, she is still a woman in need of love and a man's presence to take control and replenish what the people of Cragendan need. Born of Ogilvie blood, she is blessed with the kenning, but it has never been strong enough to amount to anything until now; when the children's Yuletide wish comes true. Noel de Servian, had lost both of his parents at a young age, and was taken in by the Challon's, he grew up alongside some of the strongest warriors that he has ever known; yet he's never known real true love. While he may not be blood, he was still considered a Dragon of Challon. After his service to King Edward, he was awarded Craigendan Keep and the title of Baron. Noel had no idea that fate has big plans for him. After waking to a woman standing before him wielding a sword against a hungry wolf, Skena MacIain was all he could think about. While Noel and Skena have a special bond that forms very quickly, he has a secret that may upset Skena enough to leave this Dragon out in the cold licking his wounds. The past is haunting to Skena, around every bend she sees her dead husband Angus, and someone is out to hurt her. She may very well be fully head over heels smitten with the beautiful Norman-English man in her bed, but she has worked much too hard to give up Craigendan. Two lives can come together as one, but the truth MUST be revealed, and it's going to hurt. Deborah MacGillivray never disappoints with her Historical Romances. I fall so in love with the characters and am always left wanting more. The next books in her series' are not on the shelf fast enough. Beautifully detailed, warm, and inviting, I could cozy up with Ms. MacGillivray's books no matter the season, this one just happens to be perfect for winter. I can't say anything more than, thank you Deborah for creating such a magical and perfect world that you share with your readers. 5 Hearts www.deborahmacgillivray.co.uk

In 1296 most of the Craigendan men of fighting age fell in battle at Dunbar to the English Dragons of Challon to include the keep's laird. His widow Lady Skena MacIain takes charge of protecting their tiny surviving clan, which is too tiny for any outsider to come in the frozen winter. Still she knows her keep is strategically a prize for King Edward even though he will ignore it until the spring thaw. She needs a new biddable spouse who will not harm her children or her people before the monarch sends one of his bloody dragons to wed her. Once a squire to the king, Noel de Servian fails to heed his royale advice to wait until spring to come to the keep he now owns. As a blizzard leaves him near death he regrets his foolishness until he is rescued by an angel. Skena saves the idiot from himself and the weather. As they fall in love, she hides her feelings that her husband is either still alive or a ghost haunting the castle while also hoping the newcomer brings joy and safety to her keep; he conceals his affinity to the king as one of his dreaded Dragons. The latest Dragons of Challons medieval romance (see RESTLESS KNIGHT) is a wonderful enjoyable tale due to the lead couple as each hides something critical from the other. With the mystery of whether the Laird lives as a mortal in hiding or a spirit, fans will enjoy this fine late thirteenth century Scottish romance as the resolute duet prefer making love not war. I have read all first 3 books, Restless Knight, In Her Bed and One Snowy Knight and I loved each and every one. I love the way her heros are strong and dominant males but the women are also strong in their own way. Her description of what is happening in the story is so eloquent that I can picture it in my mind. Truly a great story, hard to put down. I can't wait for the rest of her books to come out in this series.

I have read and reread this book numerous times. It is very romantic. Also recommend Deborah's other Highlander books associated with the family of the same main characters, "In Her Bed" and "A Restless Knight".

It was ok I guess. But way too drawn out for my taste. Sentiments were repeated over and over. The detailing was too much.
