Richard A. Smith really tells the way it is to Serve and Protect into todays society. It is not about sitting around eating donuts. He brings you into the world of jails, chasing down drug dealers, and other 'bad guys' brings insight into his private struggles with coping with being a law enforcement officer and a husband and father. Then to haso deal with the disease known as RSD. This ia a must reading for laymen as well as anyone in law enforcement. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Richard Smith's fast read takes us into the streets and jails. His telling book spares little detail concerning what cops have to deal with in the courts and jails, as well as all they suffer while both on and off duty protecting America's citizens. Smith blesses us with transpareency as he talks about his personal trials, struggles with anger and frustration, and the sacrifices he made to continue to serve as a cop. I appreciated his book greatly because of the window it provides into the bleak world of habitual criminals and the underbelly of society. His writing reveals his compassion, diligence, loyalty and commitment to the people he commited to serve. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. One Stands Alone is all about the truth in todays law enforcement world. Richard Smith tells it like it is, from the good to the bad. I strongly recomend this book for anyone thinking about becoming a police officer or for officers with families. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
