Overview

When the wealthy and handsome Fitzwilliam Darcy encounters the beautiful and lively Elizabeth Bennet at a small country ball, he loudly refuses to dance with her, declaring her to be merely tolerable. Fortunately for Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth has walked away and does not overhear his insult, thus snagging the thread that would have sealed her prejudice against the prideful stranger.

Unexpectedly, circumstances thrust Elizabeth into the same household as Mr. Darcy, and her proximity unwittingly proves tempting, as her tantalizing wit and playfulness evoke desires that threaten to unravel his resolve against her.

In this delightful re-imagining of Jane Austen's beloved classic, Pride and Prejudice, the players are the same, but the rules have changed as the dance between Darcy and Lizzy unfolds.

I absolutely fell in love with this version of Pride and Prejudi

I absolutely fell in love with this version of Pride and Prejudice. It
offers insight into the minor characters I loved from Austen's original
novel while keeping the voice and tone of the original intact and
wonderfully authentic. The main characters are those we all know and
love, and this interpertation just made me love them even more. I
    highly, highly recommend it.

One of the excellent P&P variations. A must read.

I have read nearly two hundred different Pride and Prejudice variations at least once. One Thread Pulled is one of the excellent ones. It's long, which I like, but never drags. The detail in the story-line and the development of the characters gave me so much pleasure and cost me so much sleep until I finished it. . ., and then until I finished it again. I relished every morsel and eagerly look forward to many more Elizabeth and Darcy works by this a accomplished new author. Thank you for the pleasure, Diana Oaks, and thank you for a variation not filled with grammatical errors to stumble through.

At Last! a good writing job!

I have been reading JAFF for over a year now and it has been a very uneven journey as far as the quality of the writing goes. Some books have an appealing concept that is more compelling that the moderate quality of the writing. But when I read this book, I found an interesting and new concept AND very good writing! Good descriptions and dialogue that flowed and was not trite and forced. What a pleasure to read WITHOUT a pencil to mark typos, poor language choice (subjective to be sure), bad grammar, misspellings, odd punctuation, etc. etc. etc. The only complaint I have is the cover. I much prefer art from the period as image vs. staged photos. I think the former is more elegant and the later looks more like a ordinary romance novel. The cover is, in fact, the reason I waiting for over 6 months to buy this book. I am glad I got past the hurdle! I am eager to read other books by this author.
